Hortencias OC Mexican grill

There is sign saying it's permanently closed?

Me and the fiancé went here for a bite after coming out to the area. Came to Hortencias and had a delicious lobster taco and one of, if not the best california burritos I’ve ever had.Highly recommend to try this if you’ve never been. A small little restaurant with solid prices and flavorful food!

Lady taking orders needs to be trained, no greeting, no courtesy whatsoever, I ordered machaca burrito it was not bad but

Wished I had taken pictures of the food we ordered. Had their burrito and carne asada plate. Delicious, great servings. Loved the staff.

Kimberly always takes great care of us when we cone in. My wife and I love the fajitas trio. Chicken, steak, and shrimp. Love the portions and we never leave hungryChips and salsa are also good. Washed everything down with some tasty iced tea.

Very authentic! Delicious Mexican food. At least as good as El Zarape.

Such a good local spot! The food here is always perfect! Great prices and friendly staff. I've been here many times for lunch and it never disappoints.

This is a hole in the wall spot with pretty good food. I live in Palos Verdes and I have no problem driving for good food. I wouldn't drive here if I was home and wanted Mexican food, but if I was in the area, I'd eat here.

Loooooong wait after ordering. 2 young ladies behind the county nice but very busy. Ordered chicken tacos. Upon rec. my order, I was hoping the onions would have been grilled...NOT. The tortillas wee not really hot, in fact, they were the thick tortillas instead of street tacos, not even on the burner long as the taste was vague, no real flavor. Cost did not meet the quality sad to say.

Kind and prompt service, really like the Shreaded Beef Enchalda and Harard Shell Taco ?. The Pork Tamales a very good aswell.

UPDATE:I tried again during a dinner service and I am happy to say it was a much better experience.The food was good. Nice quality and helpful staff. The star of the meal was the Carne Asada plate. The meat was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. We all enjoyed our meals and will be heading back soon.I was very excited to try this place. I have been looking for a small Mexican restaurant that my family and friends can default to when we want something close.I was underwhelmed by the food and service, so this place is not it.The servers were pleasant but not extremely helpful or attentive. Add to that the order was wrong and not a great start.The food was a 7 out of ten not bad but not enticing enough to go out of our way to get it.I did stop during lunch so maybe they were not putting their best foot forward so I will try again. I do want to find a good place that we can grab a nice meal and not feel like I'm in a fast food place. This has potential, hopefully my next visit is better.Side note, chips and salsa were good, the beans ok.
