We stumbled across Amber India while in town for my nephew’s Stanford graduation, and wow—what a find! My mom, sister, and I had such a great dinner here. The food was chef’s kiss amazing—do yourself a favor and get the goat cheese naan. SO. GOOD. Like, we’re still talking about it.

Service was top notch—shout out to Salvador, who was super friendly and made sure everything was perfect.

The vibe was nice overall, though it got a little loud thanks to a few big groups around us (probably not the norm, just some celebratory energy in the air). Still, it didn’t take away from how much we enjoyed it.

If you're in the area and craving delicious Indian food, Amber India is absolutely worth the stop!

We had an absolutely worst experience at Amber for Mother's day dinner. We have been going to Amber for over 20 years and never had faced any issues; food and service were always excellent. We were a large party and they had one person serving the whole patio, needless to say even getting water refills took 30 minutes, I guess when service charges are already included, service takes a hike. The dal takda was mushy and looked like it was leftover from their lunch buffet, butter chicken was bland, rogan josh had a smell, bhindi didn't have any flavor and breads were dry. We didn't make a fuss since it was Mother's day celebration but called back after couple of days to speak with the owner. The manager, Ravi, said that it is something that he will look into and will get back to us. Apparently they had a executive chef change but that shouldn't impact service or food quality. Needless to say, he didn't bother to respond after 2 weeks. Looks like when you are a popular restaurant, customer complaints don't matter!!

Love the ambience and taste of the food here!! But what I LOVE the most is the EXCELLENT customer service each and every time we come here!! - Today we were served very kindly by Salvador!! - Such a great guy that adhered to all our requests!! Salvador was excellent, professional, and made our day!! What a guy!!

Very spacious restaurant, amd wonderfully welcoming too! The buffet spread was great for vegetarians too, with a lot of tasty options. The chicken tikka masala was creamy, and so different from what we are used to eating. The Goan fish curry was cooked to perfection. The paneer corn was comforting and satisfying. The service was genuinely attentive from start to finish. Plenty of room to enjoy your meal without feeling crowded. The outdoor space is a whole mood with brightly colored chairs. The only miss was the gulab jamuns, they were a bit rubbery for my taste. But with everything else shining so bright, that’s easy to forgive. I’d definitely be back!

First time visiting. Ordered Veg Pakora & Edamame Croquet as appetizers and Malai Kofta & Paneer Pasanda. All these items were served cold. Essentially, served us food from earlier in the day. At least they could have warmed it up before serving. When we complained, they took it back and warmed it up in the microwave. Really disappointing experience!

Done with this place. $30 buffets, average ultra heavy food, mediocre service. This is an overpriced, non-representative restaurant which hasn’t taken any past customer feedback to get better.

My wife and I had a great experience. We had a fantastic lunch. My wife enjoyed her chicken tikka masala and my lamb varattu was fantastic. Next time we'll probably get a vegetarian dish, either aloo gobi or vegetable jalfrezi. We'll be back.

The food was quite disappointing especially given the price.

I specifically asked for my dish to be spicy multiple times. Not sure if the communication break down was but my dish was at best mild. Very disappointing.... Again. And on top of that they are very expensive.

I've been eating at Amber since the early 2000s when it was further down El Camino in Mountain View. Back then, it was the considered the best Indian restaurant in the area. Sadly, once they moved to the current location in Los Altos, it has gone considerably downhill. I suspect the Pandemic also had something to do with it as well. We ordered takeout from Amber once during the pandemic and it was not good at all. It still wins "Best Indian Food" awards by local media, but I find Passage to India, further down on El Camino on the same side of the street a far superior restaurant. Both a la carte dishes and lunch buffet is just better there. We had a party of 6 this past Sunday to celebrate my sister's birthday. We had a 12:30 reservation and were really surprised how few patrons there were. It did fill up by the time we left but the old location used to be packed for lunch buffet. The buffet selection was decent but every since dish was abnormally spicy. Service was unfortunately below standard. There was a baby shower going on in the other room which could have diverted resources but it was still an mediocre experience. The weekend buffet price of $27.99 is also just not worth it. 6 people with the automatically added gratuity and sales tax was $218. It used to be the pinnacle of "fine" Indian food dining. It's now just overpriced and average.

everything was excellent. Waiters were attentive and listened to requests. Food was outstanding and ambiance and noise level were great. Will go here again.
