This place left me feeling bewildered: the cakes certainly look great and on the pricy side, but they taste utterly mediocre, maybe even worse than mediocre. I had high expectations and was bitter let down. If you are already in downtown Los Altos, you should get your confections from Satura Cakes instead.

The pumpkin cheesecake was unique and excellent! We also loved the strawberry shortcake we got.The menu is small but everything looks incredible. There was no line when we went after lunch on a Saturday. It's located inside state street market.

Ikuka Bakery, located inside State Street Market in Los Altos, is a delightful little bakery that deserves a 5-star review! Despite its small size, it was bustling with a steady line of customers when we were there - a testament to the delicious treats they offer.I tried their strawberry shortcake, and it was perfection. Fresh & fluffy biscuits, cradled layers of sweet whipped cream and juicy, ripe strawberries - it was the perfect balance of textures and flavors, a true classic done well.Their Kabocha pumpkin mochi bread was another revelation. The bread itself was soft and pillowy, with a subtle sweetness that perfectly complemented the rich, earthy flavor of the kabocha pumpkin. Each bite was a delightful surprise of textures and tastes. My girlfriend ended up buying another one after finishing the first one. While the bakery itself is small, the line moved quickly, and the wait was worth it. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the delicious treats made the experience even more enjoyable.Whether you're a die-hard shortcake fan or looking for unique and flavorful breads, Ikuka Bakery has something for everyone. It's worth a visit for anyone with a sweet tooth.

I tried Mont Blanc, strawberry shortcake, and custard pudding. They were all delicious, but I wish I could eat more.

Back to my home town. Met up with my sister and my nephew, catching up a little and also picking something’s up too. Ate and tasted a few lovely cakes as well.

I had pudding. It has layers of custard, caramel and cream. Fresh fruits on top. Not too sweet which I liked! I came this place evening after dinner and a lot of things were already sold out. I will come back earlier next time.

Pudding was tasty and creamy but the molasses tasted burnt and very bitter. The Kabocha basque was very creamy and savory but also a bit too sweet for our liking.

Went for Dessert Food - 5/5. Kabocha cheesecake had plenty of the kabocha flavor in both actual chunks and also incorporated into the cheesecake itself. Sweetness was just right and the bits of whipped cream and crumbs matched well. A small downside was that towards the end, there was a huge piece of kabocha, being at a 1:1 ratio with the cheesecake. That ratio was too much and I would've preferred all the pieces of kabocha to be uniformly cut into small pieces. Judging by its look, I was afraid that the croissant would be too crumbly and hard. Luckily it was actually soft, albeit still crumbly. The butter and azuki made a creamy and sweet combination that synced well with the croissant's texture. Sweet potato bread was soft and the filling not too sweet. I was expecting a yellow filling of Japanese sweet potato but it was a purple ube filling instead. Still delicious and creamy! Service - 4/5. Courteous and friendly service with plates for dining in. Value - 5/5. Pastries were $5 and the cheesecake was $8 which feels fair for the area. Desserts were delicious and the sizes were good. As a bakery, the price listed was the final price. Great dessert location! Parking - Street/Municipal Lot (Free)

The matcha tiramisu was tasty but very sweet. The Mont Blanc was very tasty with a piece of chestnut in the center. However, the bottom layer was a little hard and sweet. I want more chunks and pure of the chestnut.

I've been meaning to check out this new cafe and was so happy that I had the chance to! It is located inside the Slate Street food hall in downtown Los Altos. There are plenty of tables for seating inside and the cafe is in the leftmost corner of the food hall. We visited on a late Saturday afternoon at around 4:30pm. Most things were sold out by then, but I was so happy that I was able to try the burnt basque kabocha cheesecake !! The cheesecake was so amazing -- I loved that there were chunks of Japanese kabocha (pumpkin) in the cake slice, as well as on top as a topping. The sweetness was perfect - not overly sweet and overpowering. We also ordered the brownie that my sister had. 0 complaints on this, it was perfect and I keep thinking about it! I was so happy to see that they sell it by the whole cake as well! It would make the perfect gift for a friend or for a small party :) 5/5 for Ikuka, I'll definitely be back!
