Even though I reviewed Roja in September of 2024, I felt compelled to share my thoughts again because this restaurant is consistently improving and upgrading in every aspect. They truly seem dedicated to providing the best for their customers, and I can't help but appreciate their efforts!

On of the aspects I truly love about Roja is their commitment to seasonal menu changes. It keeps the dining experience fresh and exciting! Beef Wellington is on the menu now and I must say it was the highlight of my dining experience! It was cooked to perfection; the tenderloin within was a gorgeous, rosy pink medium -rare and incredibly tender. The outer layer was a triumph of texture: a crisp golden brown, and wonderfully flaky puff pastry crust. The balance of flavors and expert preparation were simply outstanding. It seemed like everyone around me was ordering it, which speaks volumes about its popularity! Immediately after I ordered, our waiter came over and expertly suggested wonderful wine pairings, and it's amazing how much the restaurant's wine list has grown since it opened in 2024.

I highly recommend this restaurant; it's an amazing all-around dining experience thanks to the excellent food, great wine selection, pleasant ambiance, and top-notch service. I also highly recommend making reservations as the tables fill up quickly!

(Review from Sept. 2024) Roja is an absolute delight! From the moment you step inside, the ambience wraps you in a warm, welcoming embrace. The decor is beautifully curated, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

The food is truly fresh and outstanding, thanks to the incredible talent of co-owner and Chef Roberto Juarez. His culinary skills shine through in every dish, bursting with flavor and showcasing the quality of the ingredients. Whether you're indulging in his signature creations or trying something new, you won't be disappointed.

Adding to the experience, his partner and co-owner James Ashe, who is in charge of the bar, wine and cocktails, crafts some of the most exquisite drinks I've ever tasted. Each cocktail is a masterpiece, perfectly complementing the meal and enhancing the overall dining experience.

Service at Roja is impeccable. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring that your dining experience is nothing short of perfect. They go above and beyond to make sure every detail is taken care of.

If you're looking for a memorable dining experience, I highly recommend Roja. It's a place where great food, beautiful ambiance and exceptional service comes together to create a truly special outing. Don't miss out on this gem!

We were walking down State Street and happened to see this restaurant, so we decided to give it a try. Though we didn't have reservations we were seated right away. Our server John was excellent! He'd come by periodically to check on us and to pour more wine as needed. He recommended a really good Cabernet Franc that was reasonably priced.
We had a Ribeye and Wild Mushroom Lasagna and both were really tasty. The Ribeye had two steaks on the plate and cooked perfectly.

Spectacular restaurant! When it seems so hard these days to find a decent restaurant, this one really stands out. I had their special, a ribeye with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The Ribeye was cooked a perfect medium-rare with an impeccable crust. Our waiter was also very charming, funny, and professional.

This was absolutely the best restaurant I have ever been to! The food melts in your mouth. We were in Los Altos for the evening and had no idea where to eat, but we chose this place and still cannot stop thinking about it. I’m quite the food critic, but this was divine. Seriously. I would drive two hours to Los Altos just to eat here again. I had the Mission Fig Agnolotti, and I just can’t stop thinking about it. The bread and browned butter were so delicious. We got seconds, and I even wanted to take the brown butter home with me haha! I never write reviews for restaurants, but this place deserves it. It has become my absolute favorite! My mouth is still watering

The meatballs were delicious. The mash potato had a unique flavor very creamy, lemony, and had some crunchy goodness. The steak was perfectly done and the trout elegantly prepared. I also loved and loved the bread with creamy burned to perfection butter.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner last Thursday evening. The Duck 3 ways was beautifully tender and flavourful and the Wild Mushroom Lasagna- fresh tender pasta just melted in my mouth amid the tasty mushrooms and tomato topped with creamy Bechamel. The BEST Caesar Salad I’ve had in a long time- proper dressing and topped with the best Anchovies! The lemon tart- heavenly!!!!! Thank you TedJ for your friendly and professional service. Highly recommended!!!

We were very disappointed, we wanted to go there to celebrate a friend‘s birthday, but there was no mention of the birthday at all, even though I mentioned it on the reservation and I mentioned it again when we checked in. The server was not really interested in serving us as far as we could tell, he was just putting in his time and again made no special effort to acknowledge the birthday of our friend. While the food was very tasty, the lack of adequate service made it a disappointing experience overall.

Roja Los Altos is a standout! The food is bursting with flavor everything we ordered was fresh, well seasoned, and beautifully presented. The cocktails were creative and delicious, and the service was warm and attentive without being overbearing. Great vibe, stylish interior, and a perfect spot for date night or dinner with friends. Can’t wait to come back!

Roja is an exceptional culinary gem in the heart of Los Altos. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a modern, refined atmosphere that balances warm hospitality with high-end service. The experience is thoughtful from start to finish — both visually and gastronomically.

We began with freshly shucked oysters served over crushed ice with chili mignonette and shallots — an incredibly clean, vibrant bite that paired beautifully with a glass of Leirana Albariño. The presentation was impeccable, and the oysters were some of the freshest I’ve had on the West Coast.

The Imperial Golden Osetra caviar arrived next, elegantly served on ice with blinis, brioche, crème fraîche, and a minimalist silver coral stand. Every detail, down to the chilled mother-of-pearl spoons, was intentional and luxurious. It was pure decadence.

Our mains — seared steak with broccolini and a red wine reduction, and duck confit with potato layers and rhubarb — were beautifully executed and full of flavor. The wine list was well-curated, and the staff offered thoughtful pairing suggestions without being pushy.

For dessert, we shared the butterscotch budino, a comforting, silky custard topped with sea salt and vanilla cream — the perfect ending to a remarkable meal.

Roja excels in both ingredients and ambiance. It’s ideal for special occasions or an indulgent night out. A true fine-dining experience with heart.

Had the distinct pleasure of dining at this establishment recently with a friend. I am a vegan and my friend relishes exceptional meats and seafood, yet we were both thoroughly impressed by the culinary offerings, which surpassed our already high expectations. The staff was remarkably kind and attentive, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere that strikes a balance between upscale elegance and relaxed comfort. This venue serves as an ideal retreat after a hectic day or a stylish setting for an enjoyable evening out. The innovative dishes, particularly the grilled cauliflower Al pastor, were standout highlights, and I highly recommend indulging in dessert to complete the experience!

Service was lacking and food was heavy, cold and unappealing. Very expensive for a disappointing evening out.

Everything here was phenomenal- hands down our favorite restaurant in Los Altos now. Favorites: beet cured trout, oysters, and the scallops. Definitely won’t disappoint!
