Absolutely delicious ice cream. The strawberry peppercorn was phenomenal.

Flavors are 1:1 with Og penny. Only texture differs, but that’s always gonna be the case due to transit. Really well done to have this here.

Dark chocolate and bitter caramel were really good.

it was pretty overpriced for the quality. it seems like the flavor i had definitely did not contain enough butter fat, and, because of that, leaned pretty icy instead of creamy. the flavor was also pretty weak and seems to rely heavily on the mix-ins.

The bitter caramel was really good, very buttery, and surprising not bitter at tall, the coffee not as strong as other coffee flavored ice creams that I have tried at other shops

I heard that the ice cream is good so I gave it a try. It was a bit of disappointment as there was an ice cube in my ice cream! They didn’t make it well. I had the dark chocolate flavor. I tried their mint chip flavor and it tasted a bit weird. I am a mint chocolate person so I was surprised with their mint chip flavor. So I went with dark chocolate but it was a bit too sweet after finishing the scoop.

The Penny Ice Creamery in Los Altos is a lovely small business with a warm, welcoming vibe. You can really feel the care that goes into their shop and their commitment to using quality, locally sourced ingredients. The staff is friendly, and the space has that handcrafted, neighborhood feel that makes you want to keep coming back.

I tried a couple flavors and was impressed with the creativity and texture of the ice cream overall. However, I have to say the mint chip flavor didn’t quite hit the spot for me. The mint tasted a bit too herbal and lacked the creamy, refreshing balance I usually look for. The chocolate chips were good, but the overall flavor just didn’t come together the way I’d hoped.

That said, I really appreciate what this place stands for and will definitely return to try more flavors. It’s clear they put a lot of heart into what they do—and I’m all for supporting a thoughtful, local business like this!

Comically overpriced. A teensy scoop on a mini cone will run you $7. It sure ain’t good enough ice cream for that kind of money.

It's in a little food court in downtown Los Altos. Decent selection, price is on the higher side. It is a creamery so the flavors are very rich. I couldn't afford to cone everyday but it was a well deserved treat.

I come here about once a week. the ice cream is solid and the staff are very kind and helpful but the facilities seem problematic- I’ve seen cockroaches inside on multiple occasions. It’s a shame because I do like this place, but it’s hard to feel comfortable continuing to come here knowing that management clearly pays such little attention to hygiene and safety — both for their customers and workers.
