This was one of the closer Mexican spots to my hotel by the airport. Immediately greeted nicely by the owner of the place. The adobada burrito was super yummy and fulllllll of meat. Ordered the carne asada tacos for my wife and I got jealous, they were amazing! They provided an array of of salsas that were all super flavorful. As a Bay Area native, these so-cal spots hit different!
2.5 stars...the website says "Craving authentic, fresh, and full-of-flavor Mexican food?" Although the tacos looked "fresh" and are quite photogenic ? after trying the chicken, shrimp and fish tacos they failed to deliver on "authentic" and "full of flavor".... thought it's worth mentioning that the front counter help seemed more interested in riding his skateboard than helping anyone. ?♀️ The restaurant decor is kinda cool but I'm missing the link between the music and microphones that implies Acapela is "modern Mexican food" ?? Perhaps that little tidbit could be added to the ABOUT section on the website. There is a small parking lot in front and a super huge parking lot in the rear but I would say pass on this one. There are so so so many wonderful taco spots in Los Angeles that you probably can do without this one in your life ...
Was really hesitant on going in this “Mexican restaurant” but decided it was worth a shot. It was really clean and well organized. The menu was simple and straightforward. The California burrito with carne asada fires and cheese was really good and so was the carne asada burrito with guacamole and pico de gallo my mother got. Service was really good always asking us if we needed anything else. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for something fast and yummy.
Oddly, trying to find a California Burrito in LA makes for a difficult search. Acapela serves up a great burrito that isn't light on fillings. Bring your appetite!
Awesome taco spot. I tried all 5 different tacos, got fries and a Mexican coke.Food was delicious, Adobada (al pastor) and fish tacos were my favorite.Very cool spot.
The meat is seasoned okay and the service is cool. But my thing is why does asada fries cost the same amount they do at Crypto Center ?? Like wrap your head around that for a second. I just left a clipper game a few days ago and had asada fries for $17. This is a fairly new establishment in the center of a small community in which asada fries cost $17 so $20 w tax. Which is the same price they cost at A nationwide known historic venue … Home of the Los Angeles Lakers … a place that is known for overpriced food … lol it’s like come on man yes inflation but that just doesn’t make sense. How are you price matching with a huge venue while existing in a small community ?? It’s such a disappointment to see new restaurants open in your community just to see them trying to overprice everything. It’s sick.
Great presentation on the food. Awesome taste and salsa options were great. The fish tacos have really good flavor.
Finally i get to try this place food is clean ( meaning not greasy) and flavor are just right..I meet the owners over the place that i work in san diego and they where right food is just good mexican food...great job great employees
Kid-friendliness: Quesadillas good for kids
Parking: Easy parking
This new Mexican Eatery in La Mesa makes a pretty good breakfast burritos. I had the bacon and Eggs burritos. I don't like French fries inside my burritos, so they served them on the side for me. That was very nice of them to do.The burrito was very tasty and was of medium size. The Agua de FRESAS was very good. Definitely a little on the sweet side. It's a small Taco Shop with about seating for about 15 people inside. They people here are very nice.
Seriously delicious and I don't even prefer Mexican food usually. Hector was so lovely and enthusiastic about the food, which was very refreshing. I already told my son about this place, as he LOVES Mexican food. Can't wait to bring him here!

I think I need to come back to really appreciate the food, because while I was there with my children another customer had a seizure, and we wound up helping her husband tend to her instead of eating our food. I will say the staff was helpful in bringing us the things we asked for and calling 911. After the emergency was over, they offered us more food, but being mindful of food waste I simply asked that they pack up the order on our table. I did, however, allow my children to pick out desserts for being such brave helpers. The next day my husband and I shared the steak quesadilla, which I will say was quite enormous, as was my son's bean burrito. So you are getting a lot of food for your money. I'm just disappointed I didn't think to ask for another shrimp Diablo taco because I left mine on the table having taken only one bite! I hope I'll get to try this place again sometime without all the dramatics!
It was my first time!! And it was amazing! Definitely good atmosphere!! And kind people!
Went with a bunch of friends. Good quick service. Not traditional Mexican but very good.Large portions and the fresca's where just as good.I had the surf and turf burrito. I ate everything and it was huge.Check the ingredients for whatever you buy and make sure you're okay with everything. For example the chips comes with sour cream already in the mix. You might want it on the side.I will definitely go back!
If you have any dietary restrictions as of no salt. No flavor. Definitely eat here. It was so disappointing for what I paid. No flavor at all. Can you say bland gross and disgusting if you have high blood pressure? Eat here if you have diabetes. Eat here but if you can eat and want to enjoy your food, don't eat here.
Awesome awesome fast food Mexican food. This is located where the old Chile Verde used to be but the interior looks nothing like it. Dont be discouraged by the dingy exterior of the strip mall......New owners have completely remodeled the interior: they brightened it up, all new, clean, and better food! The salsas are definitely authentic! They are fresh and flavorful: plus a spicier habanero one if you're looking for a little kick. They don't have an extensive menu that overwhelms you with combination plates. It is a very simple menu but well done.Menu basically comes down to tacos, burritos, salads, and fries all in different configurations. It is fresh and easy- perfect place to stop for a quick bite for lunch or dinner bite without the fuss but all the flavor. This will definitely be my go to place for tacos and taquitos w/ guacamole.Owners and staff are also awesome! Very hands on.. can't wait to see what they add on for desserts.
