October 24th 2024. I followed the LA try guy's adviceto this place called Akee Bamboo in Leimert Park to try out the Jamaican oxtails and curry goat with white rice steamed cabbage and jerk chicken salad. I want to start off positive by saying the atmosphere was great the restaurant was clean the service was great. However the food was not great the white rice was so mushy could have been mashed potatoes and the curry goat and the oxtails and the jerk chicken all have the same flavor to it nothing different the steamed cabbage had no seasoning to it. If you were looking for authentic Jamaican food this is not the place. I will not be returning to this place if you are looking for something to fill your belly I would go here but if you were looking for flavor and quality I would not good luck.

Always a treat! Meat pies, jerk chicken, short ribs, plantains. Flavorful, authentic, delicious.
Worst food poisoning ever. Couldn’t eat for a week after leaving here. I’m an athlete. I went from the best shape of my life to a bacterial infection in my stomach and intestines. This restaurant needs to be shut down.
