This is one of the most “famous” restaurant in LA, so me and my husband wanted to try it out to see if it is good. We had reservation so we didn’t have to wait in line. To be honest, overcrowded, overhyped and overpriced.
The tables are really close together, and we (3 people) were sitting in an inside corner, so one of us had to squeeze through other table to reach their seats. A waiter is responsible for like 6 tables, so they were very very busy, they didn’t really have time to ask if we were there before, any recommendations.
We actually wanted to try big intestine, but since we are not Koreans we ordered the gopchang combo and thought it would be what we expected. That was our fault, so later we ordered extra big intestine. We also had the marinated short ribs, kimchi stew.
I felt like the menu is not very clear, there are steamed egg and 1 type of stew included in our combo, but it wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu. Banchan is also mediocre and tbh, sad looking, the variety is not good, and if you want kimchi, you have to ask for it.
Short rib was good, well marinated and had a good bite to it, but pretty expensive for the amount of meat we get. The kimchi stew and soft tofu stew (in the combo) was okay, very small size though. Gopchang is not marinated at all?, and it had some mushy texture inside, it felt a bit bitter sometimes so definitely not my favorite. Finally big intestine, we had it in a couple places before and they had pretty good impression to me, but somehow here I felt it was just too fatty. There were also kimchi fried rice in the combo, not too bad, my husband liked it but i thought i was a tad bit salty.
The best cut out of the night would be the short ribs, other than that I don’t think it stands up for its name: Ahgassi Gopchang, but might just be my own taste

I heard about this place from World famous comedian ( and definitely one of my top 3 favorite comedians) Bobby Lee! Never been here but since Bobby likes it I like it. Simple as that I’ll go fisticuffs with anyone who doesn’t agree with Bobby Lee.

Ordered Ahgassi combo. Brisket is mid, like what you can expect from AYCE. Short rib is ok, but burnt (could only taste bitterness from the burnt parts). They insisted on grilling for me and won’t let me do it. There were only two tables of customers and two staff members btw. Pork belly is also mid. Pork steak is dry and difficult to chew. Avoid.

Food was good but could not make up for their horrible service. No menu was provided as we settled down at the table (not even the QR code for online menu), and only shown after we tried to ask them for the menu the second time. Also the communication was difficult when we couldn’t understand what the servers spoke to us. They missed the rice when we ordered the combo and only provided it after we asked.

Been here several times over the years and recently the food quality isn’t as good. The meat tasted rough or unusual so had to dip it in salt more to cover up the flavor. Pork was a little watery too, usually means it’s been frozen a little too long.
But overall I do enjoy coming here with friends and having a good time. Servers are attentive and friendly, very quick to get orders and refills in. Atmosphere is loud and welcoming.
