TOURIST TRAP THAT TRIES TO RIP YOU OFF AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICEI cannot express how terrible this restaurant was. The customer service was the worst I have ever experienced and made the visit horrible. They tried to rip us off and we ended up paying $70 for two meals instead of $40. I live in LA, yet I got ripped off worse than a tourist.1. OUR SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE yet we were incredibly polite and did not complain. They treated us incredibly snobishly, and when the server brought chips, salsa, and gaucamole he purposely said: "Here are free chips and salsa--they are free." He said this like we were broke.Soon after our waiter came and said very rudely: "Do you want more food?" He said this like we could not afford anything more than guacamole.2. THEY TRIED TO RIP US OFF AND SUCCEEDED. The waiter offered us a choice between guacamole and nachos when we first sat down and had not looked at the menu yet.We did not request anything in the first place so we naturally assumed this was complimentary. We chose guacamole. He left and when we looked at the menu finally, we realized the guacamole cost $17. FURTHERMORE the waiter did not use this trick on any table but ours.$8 FOR WATER. The waiter also asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. We said still, not wanting an extra charge and he brought a bottle of water. To EVERY OTHER TABLE around us he did not ask whether they wanted still or sparkling and instead poured them water from a pitcher. When we saw the bill, the water cost $8 for a BOTTLE OF WATER.Water and the guacamole plus tax cost $30 extra so we ended up paying $70 when all we wanted were two taco plates ($40).Food was horrible. Pretty view of fountain. DO NOT COME.

The service and drinks were decent. Nice interior. Not a fan of the surprise service charge. Just include it within the price of the food and drinks.

Best mexican food i ever tried. Loved it. Unforgettable.
Amazing food and our server, Max, was THE best. We went in for lunch on a Sunday (without a reservation) and were kindly seated right away. Everyone was courteous and we enjoyed our meal outside with our two pups. We could not have asked for a better experience.

Something was not right with the food, first time at Alma today. We ordered 3 Al Pastor tacos and the enchiladas with 2 appetizers, the queso fundido and the mushroom ceviche.Everyrhing seemed tasty while we were eating it but when we left both my girlfriend and I started feeling very nauseous after about 45 mins. We sat down at a table near the apple store and my girlfriend threw up on herself, after cleaning herself up we left the Grove. On our drive home I was feeling very nauseous myself and was telling my girlfriend I felt the same way. She asked me to pull over on the way home 3 times, she throw up some more.8 mins away from home I began to feel the food coming up my throat and I had to pull over in the middle of downtown to throw up for about 10 mins. Finally made it home and threw up some more in the garage also blood was coming out of my nose (weird). ???It was very expensive too for what we got. Paid $154 plus tipped $25% on top of that. Just a heads up, true story service was good though. Something with the food maybe, just pricey though.
