We were so looking forward to enjoying the food at Alta. However, not our experience at all. Sadly!
We are bummed and disappointed.
Overcooked almost burnt fried chicken, collard greens soaked in vinegar, burnt overcooked brisket soaked in barbecue were just a few of the disappointing items we tried. Perhaps it was an off night. Whatever the case, we left disappointed and won’t return.

Delicious and Noye was the best server!
We did brunch so it wasn't super busy. Its a very inviting space, we sat in the rear covered area where it's like being outside and inside at the same time with quite the charm and appeal. I'm gonna say I'm a little biased with this review because the hostest/server was not only exceptionally attentive but absolutely beautiful. There was also someone bussing tables who was also stunning. I was concerned that the food would not be good at this point because everything was a vibe. We started with deviled eggs and cornbread. The cornbread was quite tasty, the deviled eggs were ok, nothing special to be fair. My family had chicken and waffles and said it was good. I had the oxtail and grits and I had never had the combo before and was pleasantly surprised. Me and my son got these non alcoholic drinks and boy, they were not quite appealing to our palettes, but I can see how someone might enjoy them. The only knock was that it is pricy though. However, if price isn't a deal breaker it's worth it. There was a tall gentleman working there that was exceptionally welcoming on entrance and exit. If I was craving that oxtail and grits combo I'd go again. I've never been when it is busy busy, but when I went it was an exceptionally pleasant experience and I'd recommend giving it a try.

It felt as if my best friend, who cooks these type of food for me, had invited me to his Abuela’s for dinner. Food was delicious. Tori had many tables but managed to get our orders fast. I will be coming back. Highly recommend

Went here on Saturday for a birthday celebration and everything and I mean everything was top tier! We were in the back patio area. We had a party of 17 so we had a fixed menu that was amazing! I'm typing this review the next morning and I'm still full. The black eyed peas fritters, mac and cheese, greens, catfish and grits, shrimp and grits, fried chicken, the potatoes (baby those potatoes!!!) and the pancakes with the syrup....whew every last thing was delightful! Delicious! And let's talk about the service. It was all hands on decks. And I wish I had everyone's name but from the busser, to our waitress (such a sweet young lady and so attentive), the manager and the hostess....everyone was great. I know in the beginning the manager (I think he was the manager) seemed a but overwhelmed, we were a big party and he wanted to make sure our food got out hot....but once we let him know, hey, we're good. You guys are good. I think he went back, took a deep breath and came back and everything was really good. He was amazing. We had champagne flights with your choice of pineapple, orange, lavender (yummy and my fav) and turmeric juice....all were good choices. It was a lovely afternoon and a beautiful birthday celebration for my friend. As a customer remember to be kind, be patient.....have fun! We paid a little over $100 per person for food, quite a few bottles of champagne, sparkling water (Saratoga!) and tip. Well worth to me!

Alta is an absolute gem! My wife and I came after a long work week we got one of the best dining experiences!
We got there super early for our reservation and waited a little bit. But the hostess was super nice and another employee came over and gave folks waiting a glass of champagne. Small touch and greatly appreciated. The rest for the staff were extremely warm and hella friendly. Dope atmosphere with very good music.
We sat at the chefs table and it was cool to see the chefs do their thing. They were super nice for being busy preparing meals. Now the food - absolutely delicious! We got the fried chicken, yams, and Mac and cheese. All were far beyond my expectations. The Mac and cheese had a little spice to it - more flavor than heat. The cheese ratio and types created a delicious melt. Try it and you know. The yams were so good too! The yams-Mac and cheese combo - trust me. Fried chicken was slamming and came with great tasting hot sauce that was a good spicy but still so flavorful.
Absolutely no complaints and will be on the list of recommendations I give for great night out.

The vibe was pretty cool (decor, ambiance, crowd, and music selection) however the food was overpriced and underwhelming. The portions were small and the flavor just wasn't there.
I ordered the fried catfish and grits and candied yams. They gave me two small pieces of fried catfish and a small amount of grits. The grits had a good texture, but they were bland and so was the sauce they were covered in. It came with chunks of sausage and two TINY pieces of okra. For the price, I expected much more flavor and a much larger portion. The candied yams were regular, but the sauce was too watery.
The waitress was cool, but nothing to rave about.
The greeter was blah. It almost seemed as if she didn't enjoy her job. Random wait staff asking how the food was were more enthusiastic than the greeter. For the price, I expected someone warmer.
Valet was friendly.
My friend and I were in agreement that the food was underwhelming and overpriced, but the atmosphere was nice.

Really beautiful location, I especially loved the outdoor shaded seating. The food however was incredibly lackluster but the sauces saved everything. The highlights of the entire meal were the Fresno hot sauce and the honey butter. We had the cornmeal pancakes, oxtail and grits, shrimp and grits, a match latte and London fog latte. Both lattes were overly sweetened, and this is coming from a person with a huge sweet tooth. The shrimp and grits and oxtail and grits were underseasoned and underwhelming and overpriced. The worst thing by far were the cornmeal pancakes which were incredibly bland.
Our server was also inattentive and forgetful, forgot several of our items and barely checked on it. I do have to say two men who seemed to be running dishes were great, super attentive and kind.
Overall wish the food were better because the spot is so cute and has a good vibe.

5/5 on taste, service and atmosphere, but the value of what you get vs what you pay for is astounding. $5.50 for a drip coffee which says it includes one free refill, but the cup itself looks like it is about 4 oz.
The small dish pictured was $31 alone or $38 including the chicken andouille sausage. $7 for 5 small thinly sliced pieces of sausage is really high.
Again I loved the food but not worth what it costs. Sorry. If I’ve paid $38 for a breakfast dish I really do not want to be be wondering what I should pick up on the way home to fill me up.

I had the chicken gumbo with the shrimp add on and I loved it! The shrimp was grilled and the rice was super fresh and not dry. It went well with the Pinot Noir.
The servers were also super polite and very attending. I would definitely come back again ❤️🔥

Clean, upbeat vibe with really good food
Great atmosphere. Upscale home cooking. For the prices, paired side dishes should come with the entrée. They don't, except for a bed of grits that come with the delicious oxtail. The brisket was dry and not tender. Very little sauce came with the brisket and scarcely added to the flavor. The blackened salmon was nicely cooked but all the seasoning (blackening) was on one edge of the filet. Fried chicken was good, but all you get is three pieces, nothing else for the price. The yams and mac&cheese were ok (mom's are better) but was the price justified? I could go there again (very pricey), but I'll go to mom's instead.

Chef Kieth is the best. One of my favorite restaurants, in LA or anywhere else. The menu is smaller than it used to be and my favorite item got taken off (sweet potato dumplings, I will dream of you forever), but the streamlined offering is impeccable and the specials are always fantastic. Current standout is the blackened salmon in coconut sauce, it's so good we keep the plate to scoop the sauce out on our forks. Every plate has Michellin-level flavor combinations, every item I've had here is outstanding, every plate is a struggle not to lick clean. Whenever someone visits me, Alta is a non-negotiable part of the experience, and everyone I've ever brought has been so happy we went. The vibe is warm and chill and friendly, the space is very cool and beautifully designed. A real LA standout!
Was very lucky and got to try an experimental desert coming out of the kitchen and all I can say is if you see a souffle on the desert menu—*get it*.

Came to this establishment for brunch with my wife, got bad vibes from the moment we walk in. The restaurant is nice and the food was good, but the service was horrible, they were acting to uppity & trying to speak proper, while missing items that were ordered. The food is over priced for the portions, like who charges $33 for fish & grits, really 🤔. In total paid $121 for brunch that didn't include drinks is ridiculous. Then the waiter ask me if I was the owner of the card I was paying with 🤣🤣 I asked him why would you ask that and he couldn't answer, I then asked him would he like some I.D. I hate black owned establishments like this. I will never return here. Worst spot ever
