Best dinner in LA!

Avi Glozman

Amiga Amore has a lot of potential, if only they zone in more on the Mexitalian fusion.

Surprising to read, right? Strangely some of their dishes rely on Chinese ingredients, like a sudden interjection to a conversation. They don’t belong, and sometimes they’re harmless, but other times, they straight up make the dish a disappointment.

The duck had bok choi, which is neither Mexican nor Italian, and the Cacio e Pepe was supposed to have some kind of Szechuan pepper but we tasted none (frankly, we tasted hardly anything - we returned this dish). The disappointment sat with us well after leaving.

I would NOT recommend Amiga Amore until their menu is polished and service improved (more attentive, faster).

An absolute gem in the Highland Park area! My partner and I come here at least once a month for dinner and the service is always friendly. The clams and chorizo are my absolute favorite, seriously they will turn a bad day into a good day.

Our meal here made us so happy to be back in SoCal. Tasty dishes and such a cute, colorful dine-in spot. pro tip: watch a movie or check out the dvd rentals at Vidiots after dinner

INCREDIBLE! Want to start off my saying I’m Mexican, so I know what authentic tastes like. And of course, I will always love Italian as well. So what do you get when you combine two of the top 5 cultural foods in the world? This… this is what you get. I’ve visited this place 4-5 times already, and every-time there’s always something different. Whether it’s the Al pastor pork belly, sweet potato ceviche, the duck and mole (mole is so well done), or the duck duck pasta - it is all phenomenally cooked. The 5 star reviews you read here are legit , and I highly suggest this place to anyone who loves Mexican or Italian food. Or any good food for that matter!

Cozy vibes are high for this one. Amazing spot for an incredible meal! Each dish is exceptional and well balanced. The ambience of the restaurant is inviting. Great cocktails and expansive non alc cocktails too! Definitely worth coming back time after time.

Intimate spot with amazing fusion flavors! I had the Lobster Veracruz and the Chile Relleno Manicotti. Both were excellent, however the Manicotti truly shined with its combination of fried and soft textures, mixed with Italian cheeses and Mexican dressings.

This quaint, casual Mexican Italian fusion restaurant is one of my favorite meals I've ever tasted in LA. The flavor combos are unique and incredibly subtle in unexpected and refreshing ways. We had the sweet potato ceviche, aguachile, noprese salad (INCREDIBLE!), duck pasta, elote agnolotti, and I even tried the specialty margarita with tomato, which sounds gross but was perfectly done. The owners take great pride in their menu and service and encouraged us to come back for their brunch. We will definitely return. In a place like LA, where every other restaurant is trying too hard to be cool, this one was a breath of fresh air with its casual patio vibes and amazing food. Jonathan Gold would've loved this one. You will too!

Wow. Just wow. I’m in shock. The place was so cute! The food was absolutely insane! The flavors were so unique and incredible. Would definitely recommend. I ordered the focaccia, endive salad, lobster pasta, carne asada and the horchata pie…. Wow. 10/10

Only downside I would say is that there is no liquor license so we couldn’t order a tequila 😂

Four of us shared several dishes and enjoyed each one more than the others. April helped us with wine and dishes while she had Athene helping her. Extremely wonderful first visit..more to come!!!!

Sad to say I was not impressed with the food. Innovative, but lacking in magnetism and flavor. Cannot recommend. Pork chop milanese, chili relleno manicotti, sweet potatoes ceviche, and a dessert. Best thing was the jamaica.

Amiga Amore is such a special place. The couple who own the restaurant (a true mom and pop) are very skilled in their craft. They have put together a menu that is unique and flavorful and ever-evolving. I can’t wait to be back and have some of the dishes again as well as try everything on the menu. I especially loved the vegan options which were delightfully rich with flavor and unique in their own right. Who knew zucchini bread could be so good? Special combinations that make for amazing, tasty dishes. I went with a couple of friends, and we ordered the sweet potato ceviche, agua chile , noprese salad and elote agnolotti. Each dish was so different and unique but the ingredients worked together so beautifully. I had Nopales for the first time and it was such a pleasant surprise, I could have eaten an entire bowl of just that . The drinks were also delicious. The place is very cozy and feels like home. The attentive staff took great care of us, topping off our tasty dining experience. I truly can’t wait to be back!

Vegetarian options: Many vegan/vegetarian options on the menu. Very delicious!

Dietary restrictions: Great vegan options

I was super excited to try Amiga Amore because of their Italian-Mexican fusion, but I left feeling really disappointed.

My boyfriend and I ordered the elote agnolotti and the huitlacoche cacio & pepe. The elote agnolotti didn't taste like elote at all-it was more like butternut squash--sweet. It definitely could've used a lot more tajin and cotija. The cacio & pepe wasn't much better. The pasta tasted like cinnamon and cheese, very odd. The only things I actually enjoyed were the pistachio horchata drink and the pistachio horchata affogato. Those were good, but they didn't make up for the rest of the meal.

The portions were small, and considering the price and the claim on their website that the husband and wife worked at "numerous top restaurants," I expected much better quality and a more satisfying amount of food. The prices felt too high for the lack of a lively ambiance, and they add a "kitchen love" fee, which wasn’t hidden but also wasn’t obvious on the menu. I wouldn't recommend this place, and I certainly wouldn’t return.
