Anzu is a small home-style Japanese restaurant that was located in Sawtelle, near UCLA. It was known for its delicious fried chicken and cozy atmosphere. The menu featured Japanese favorites like karaage, dry curry, Loco Moco, and Sicilian Rice. The chicken karaage was perfectly seasoned with a unique ginger and soy sauce flavor, and the curry rice was rich and flavorful with plenty of minced meat. The Loco Moco offered a taste of Japanese hamburger steak with a rich demi-glace sauce and a fried egg on top. The Sicilian Rice, a specialty from the Saga region of Japan, was a unique combination of sweet soy sauce and grilled beef. Anzu also offered tasty fries with a seasoned coating.
However, it is important to note that Anzu is now closed permanently and has moved to Menya Tigre around the corner. Although the food was great, including the karaage chicken and fries, there have been changes to the menu, and some customers have expressed disappointment, particularly with the reduced portion size of the chicken. The restaurant had a small outdoor space where customers could enjoy their meals, and there was quick service. Despite its closure, Anzu was a beloved spot for authentic Japanese comfort food in the area.
