I went in for lunch, called and pre-ordered my meal. Ribs, collard green, mac-n-cheese, cornbread and potato salad (all my favs) + sweet tea. I see, why Chef Star was voted LA's #1 rated Soul Food. Everything was top notch. It's literally powerful and made me smile the rest of my day. I couldn't eat it all, so I saved the rest and continued the next day. The food was still amazing. I will tell all my friends and family that come visit LA to eat here.

I rarely write reviews but picked up a a few plates today and was absolutely blown away after one bite of Star's utterly delicious food! Her greens were amazing...smoky and flavorful broth and the black eyed peas and cornbread had a fresh and clean feel but still full of irresistible soul! Matched with her incredible food is her warm smile and stunning beauty, inside and out, and her great service. I will be returning again and again. If you haven't already, make sure you check out this beautiful woman's cuisine, you will be so glad you did.

Me: "Can I have some red beans and rice?" Her: "The red beans aren't ready" Me: "Ok, can I have the vegan collard greens?" Her: "They're only available upon request" Me: *Blank Stare* (in my head: was the question not the request? ) Okkk, I guess I will have the baked beans" 15 mins later, I bite into a piece of metal scrap in my beans ... not only do they serve canned beans, but they serve you the can too ! I SEE WHY THEY'RE ALWAYS EMPTY!

Mama Star treated me like her son. Came in for a late dinner and her door was open. Sat at a table with a stranger and had an amazing conversation. The fact she buys locally and uses natural ingredients was icing on the collared greens. If you're looking for good vibes all around this is your joint ���
