Great Sushi Place. We sat outdoor around the fire pit. Service was great. Sushis were the most fresh ones I ever had. Definitely worth the price. Highly recommended.

We order Sashimi, unagi sushi, and Uni Pasta, fish is not super fresh and there’s fish bone in it; The pasta is barely boiled, pretty hard to chew.

Dinner here on a weeknight was delicious:Chirashi sushi - a generous serving of beautiful sashimi & a bowl of sushi rice. The fruit cup that came with was Ranier cherries, sweet strawberries, and red & green grapes - a perfect finishUni Sashimi - they brought me a whole box! And yes I ate every super fresh piece.We also had tempura vegetables & shrimp, which were light & hot & crispy.My friends loved their pan fried gyoza, sunomono salad & spicy tuna cut rolls.Service was warm & attentive, & we found parking at the meters right out front because we arrived right at 5pm. This is definitely worth a repeat!

In A Nutshell:-Hayama is a cozy little Japanese restaurant in Sawtelle.-Their Tokyo Box & Chicken Curry really hit the spot.-This is a nice go-to place if you are in the area & need some good comfort food to fill you up.-I enjoyed the layout of the building w/ the outdoor seating & the indoor seating.Overall, this is a restaurant coming back to eat at again.

Wonderful sushi, curry, katsudon, amazing garlic edamame (normal is available too), miso, basically everything is great here!The service is wonderful, the staff speaks both English and Japanese.There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is within a small courtyard with a fire for ambiance and warmth on chilly evenings. For any takeaway or Door Dash/Uber Eats orders, they are amazing as well. Good presentation, portions, and the temperature is always right. They also pack the hand towels you clean your hands with at the atart of a meal for takeaway too!

I live around the corner so this has become a favorite spot! Lovely ambiance with the giant fire pit and the Tokyo Sushi set is my absolute favorite! Only $32 for a ton of delicious food. My boyfriend and I usually split it. All of the sets look incredible. Highly recommend.

Horrible customer service. I just called and they said that they could seat us and then we showed up at 8:50 to order JUST edamame and the lady kicked us out and said they were closed. Very upset. Don’t go there late :/
This place was my go-to for fresh sushi, but then I ordered the Uni Pasta and what I received was just unforgivable. They advertise this as a creamy Uni Pasta and what I received was just super dry spaghetti with two pieces of Uni. Check out the pic. This cost me $36 -- THIRTY SIX DOLLARS. I'm so angry I never want to order from here ever again. I'll find a new spot for fresh sushi. I have to stage a protest. How can you serve something like this?! I'm done.

Super slow service. My husband got his meal right away and was finished by the time mine came out. Sushi was mediocre but overpriced for the quality. Decorations inside were very strange and made for a bad ambiance. Wouldn't go back.
