Dirty store

Well-run location, open late. I came in a sweaty mess around 9 p.m. after hiking the trail at Griffith Park, and the guy at the counter was courteous and good at his job.

I (Indian male) came into this store on Sunday March 23rd 2025 around 9pm with a group of friends. There were two male employees working the store that night. Both of them looked hispanic, but one of them was shorter and wearing a grey/brown shirt, while the other was taller and wearing a pink shirt. I had no issue with the shorter employee, he was quite nice and told me to let him know whenever I was ready to order.

However, by the time I was ready to order, the shorter employee was busy washing some dishes, so I had the unfortunate experience of being served by the taller employee, who was quite rude to me for no good reason. He was very passive-aggresive, seemed like he did not want to interact with me, and made me feel like I was not welcome in the store. When I told him what ice cream I wanted and was waiting for him to scoop it, he aggressively pointed at the card machine, indicating that I had to pay first before he even scooped my ice cream for me. I thought this was a bit weird since typically they scoop the ice cream first, and then you pay just before they hand you your order.

Moments later, two of the friends I was with (both Caucasian) order their ice cream and he treats them completely normally, not rudely like he did to me, and their transaction occurred in the usual way (he only made them pay after he had prepared their ice cream and handed it to them). This confirmed my suspicion that the taller rude employee who served me was racist and treated me differently than my friends simply because my skin is brown.

I did not get either employees' names, but the racist employee had a fluffy beard/goatee and he had large holes in his ear lobes (looked like he used to wear spacers). I hope that the manager of this store will deal with this employee appropriately and let him know that it is not okay to treat anyone differently just because they look different. This racist employee has completely ruined my day, and I will never be returning to this store. Thank you for this awful experience.

The mango ice cream was delicious, not filling and even had pieces of the fruit.... the hot brownie was very good too... the rest was normal

The dinosaur of ice cream chains - from a time when it was ok to have hormones in the milk and it was cool to use green number 3 coloring to ensure fun! They’ve got 31 flavors but who’s counting? Nostalgia brings me here, when I need to remember what it was like to pay less for an ice cream cone. Today’s organic cones cost a ton! If you really think about it, Baskin Robbin’s isn’t cheap - think quality of the ingredients. I got a double pistachio on a sugar cone. The pistachio is pistachio because of the green color and the likely artificial flavoring. The nuts in this ice cream are actually almonds! lol! It was nice and cold and tasted green! Service was good this time but here I’ve had some pretty wacky moments that don’t make me recall Baskin-Robbins past. As I finished my cone I was pleasantly surprised to see that the paper cone holder didn’t stick to the cone itself! lol! How many times has that happened to you and made you think about say Japanese ice cream cones with paper cone holders that come off so easily? Not here in ‘murica where we spend so much on foreign policy that our infrastructure is crumbling, like the scary elevators we use that rock and jerk you to the bottom. Not in Japan. Have you ever ridden a Japanese elevator? Well it makes you wonder what our country would be like at home if we didn’t spend so much on the military. Oh, the parking lot here is not too big but usually you can find a spot.

This store is one of the first few stores that were opened in Los Angeles by Baskin Robbins, almost 70 years ago. It’s still holding that legacy. Nice and clean with friendly staff. Giving them kudos for being there after all these years.

I dont want to go back....the guy who helped me was nice, but my waffle bowl was stale....and it smelled funny..Ive been going to baskin-robbins since I was a child, and I have NEVER had a stale anything. Our order today cost 17dollars and some change..I'm sad. I won't go back...this was disappointing. FIX IT!!! Just downhill, the cones were sitting out on top of the counter and don't get me wrong the ice cream was ok, but stale cones?? Who wants that? That's part of the experience too...please do better, because everybody loves ice cream, but NOBODY likes stale cones or waffle bowls...that smell weird. Please change this...it's really sad. And I mean well,...

Rude people shouldn’t be allowed to work on hospitality, poor service overall. Ice cream is good though!
