probably the best non-casual middle eastern restaurant i’ve been to. appetizers were top tier, packed with flavor and elevating classic dishes with unique pairings. drinks and service were solid but nothing too memorable. outside of drinks, prices were also pretty reasonable. overall, if you liked bestia, would recommend bavel as well and would come back to take others (just skip on the mains)!raphaella: smoky, savory, tasty drink but not top tierhummus avocado tahini: must try! don’t usually like hummus but the avocado made it lighter and creamier. pita was so fresh.chicken liver pate: enjoyed this dish. ingredients were fresh and sweet sour savory combo hit. bread was amazing. ranked lower in our list overall but still tasty.grilled prawns: must try! perfect charred flavor and well marinated. salad pairing was perfect to balance out the prawnsoyster mushroom: fav dish of the night, don’t skip this! never had mushrooms this way before. crispy, juicy, grilled with slight smokiness.malawach: we were full by the time this came out but it was okay. forgettable.lamb shawarma: disappointing. dish was well cooked and ingredients were fresh but lamb was too salty. would give it another chance.

The food, the food, the food. Excellent (1 downfall hostess service/ I was not allowed to go to the bar, forced to wait in sun and 30 minutes later never even offered water) and on this visit I asked for change on a large bill in order to p ay my valet and she (waitress) just didn't HOW RUDE especially when we tipped her very well. She said valet guys can hreak that large bill, no they can't especially not at 6:30pmParking: The valet guys are spectacular BUT regardless of what the waitress from Bavel says they don't have change for large bills especially before 8pm

Incredible vibe (loud) and delicious food. Bavel really excelled with all of the appetizers. Here is what we had:Spreads:- HUMMUS CANNELLINI MASABACHA: solid- hummus duck nduja: you can get this as a side to the regular hummus. We realize after that I think we were supposed to add this to the plain hummus. It was fine.- farm cheese: my favorite spread. Must get.- chicken liver pate: beautifully served. Would definitely get again.Apps:- marinated beets and cauliflower: my favorite dish of the night, big surprise, the whipped feta is awesome- butter lettuce salad: refreshing and super tasty. My second favorite dish.- grilled celery root: pretty small portion, but super good, would get again.-grilled prawns: so so good. Spicy. Would get again.Entrees:- SLOW ROASTED LAMB NECK SHAWARMA: reminds me a lot of carnitas. Super tender, but not a ton of meat.

Great.Probably the best lamb chops I've ever had.The only negative is the fact that the restaurant can get very noisy.

FOH “manager” approached me after being alerted I had been waiting 15 min for my grilled mushroom appetizer and asked “how are you doing?” I replied, “Not so good” and he seemed shocked and walked away. My mushrooms arrived - 8 soggy oyster mushrooms on a skewer with no grill marks or indication of actually being cooked. I asked for the check immediately and the manager was called to the POS system right in front of me, waited for my form of payment… revealing to my server, that in his words “she’s no one.” Therefore I was charged for the full order of food I did not consume, waited 10 min longer than normal wait time, didn’t stay for the entree and didn’t even get any salutation for my poor experience. I spent $80 on one drink, a side of toast because I was sooo hungry, and soggy mushrooms. SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE RESTAURANT STAFF. What a disgrace to actual good, simple good cooking CHEF OWNER.

One of the LA's finest dining establishments. We went on a Saturday night, and made a reservation about a month in advance. Even with the reservation, we still had to wait a bit when we got there, and the staff seemed very busy at check-in since there were many parties standing around waiting to be seated. The ambience inside is among the best you'll ever experience. We had a group of 4 and shared about 8 dishes. I thought the spreads were the best thing on the menu. We had the hummus duck nduja and baba ghanoush and WOW. Best hummus and baba ghanush I've ever had for sure. Both come with a side of bread which is also excellent. For the entrees, the slow roasted lamb neck schwarma was a favorite. The meat is cooked incredibly, and full of flavor.I would also recommend their drinks. The bartender was very knowledgable and thoughtful, making customized drinks to each our preferences. That was a special and appreciated touch to the night.Parking: Downtown LA can generally be crowded for parking, so you may have to circle around for a bit. But there is a valet option available if you'd rather not.

The service and atmosphere are great. You’re really paying for the vibe.Food was whatever and over priced. I tried the wagyu beef, lamb shawarma, hummus, and honey nut squash bread. We had a couple drinks each.

Great meal with the parents at Bavel - the wagyu tagine, duck nduja hummus and lamb neck shawarma were amazing. Server was great and our second sommelier was good as well - strange interaction with first som who brought a bunch of reserve list wines to us that were not anything like what we described we were interested in.

Quite literally saved my life. Was walking lost not knowing how I would get home, they offered me shelter from the rain, generously helped me charge my phone, and I had one of the best desserts I’ve ever tried! Definitely would come again. Everybody was very nice.

We enjoyed everything that we ordered, which included the lamb neck, the shrimp, the farm cheese, and the butter lettuce salad. The only thing that really gets to me is why do they need the music so loud?? It's really not necessary! Our service was great and we always enjoy ourselves, but you can barely talk to the person across from you because it's extremely loud !
