bb.q Chicken Sawtelle

We arrived at 8 PM and placed my order. I was told it would take 20 minutes, but after waiting over 30 minutes, I was asked to leave because the store was closing in 15 minutes.

I love how they make their chicken so crispy. Even after chicken gets cold I still have perfect crunch every bite! And Rose ttokbokki, I added ramen and it was not soggy until the last bite, too!!

I ordered all the flavors and all are delicious 😋. My faves are the honey garlic and of course the original. I really like the sides - the daikon side is great and really cleanses the pallet. This beats even Jollibee.

I love Korean bbq chicken!

Parking: Busy mall. But I can usually get parking because I go on non-busy hours.

I have actually been obsessed with this place after the first time i tried it at a party. Started ordering from them a couple times a week from The K town franchise but i heard one closer opened and started ordering from the Sawtelle one. At first my orders were perfect but then the quality started going down. Their chicken was perfectly crunchy with juicy meat and great flavor. Now i order and pretty much every time it arrives burnt and dry . Super dissapointing considering i was thinking about getting my own franchise but Alvin Kim never called me for my meeting. I actually called once to ask why my order was so burnt and what has changed. The sweet girl basically said she wadnt sure but that if i order during a rush time at the restaurant that i will probably get that bad quality because of the busy staff and chefs. Not a great response. Anyway im super disappointed and dont even want to buy from this location anymore.

We love the food at bb.q Chicken, we always get the boneless Honey Garlic chicken, an order of Rose’ Ddeok-Bokki, and a side order of the pickled radish. The main problem with this particular location is the parking. The Sawtelle area gets really crowded at dinner time, especially on the weekends, and especially at this strip mall where most of the other businesses are very popular restaurants. And the surrounding residential neighborhood is permit parking after 6PM. The main way I get around this is to have my daughter drop me off and circle the block while I go in and pick up the food, but it's a pain. I wish they had another location on the Westside, like Culver City or Mar Vista.

My chicken order was ready for me when I arrived at the Sawtelle location. The chicken smelled wonderful. Eating it 30 min later, it was absolutely delicious! Meat was moist and the skin was a nice crispy texture. Perfectly cooked. It was the hit of the football party. Will definitely return soon!

Tried the Golden Original chicken, about half of the pieces (particularly smaller ones) were way too dry, (likely overdone) the other pieces were moist and the heat level was good but apparently salt isn't a valued seasoning, as while chicken had nice heat, there was a distinctive lack of seasoning to make it pop further.

The crunch on the chicken was good. It was also still nice and hot by the time we got back to our place.

Tried the fries also, they were quite crunchy and good but also salt phobic, ketchup helped.

The complimentary radish was quite good.

Prices felt really high for what you're getting ultimately, as many pieces of chicken were not particularly sizable.

For service had to wait about half an hour from time as ordering as they were busy on a Saturday night I suppose, either way with half the chicken being subpar and most item feeling under seasoned, I cannot give this a higher review.

The reason I put the food a little bit less is because they used to have a bigger portion and now it’s like much smaller for the same price and also their chickens are used to be higher quality and now it’s like more fatty in it so hopefully they change it to what it used to be then it’s Very delicious. 😋 I have tried everything in the chicken department and few of the Korean pastas really delicious 😋 specially the rose one.

Parking: Usually pick up to go orders; if you cant find parking, sometimes you can pull into the valet lot and let them know you are picking up, they may let you stop your car in the valet lot to fun in and grab your order

⚠️Warning! Just Don’t get their FRIED RICE⚠️
This was my 2nd visit. I liked their chicken but I was super disappointed on their fried rice.

Reason 1: The container was only quarter filled, and size was not $16 worth fried rice.
Reason 2: It didn’t look like picture. I ordered kimchi fried rice
Reason 3: I took it back, but no return. So I just told them to toss them.

On the other hand, their chicken was good, so that’s why 3stars
