Bento Ya Reviews
Crappiest agedashi tofu I ever tried to eat. It was more like the fried tofu at Quickly, but less edible. Agedashi tofu is supposed to be coated with potato starch and be soft, but this was some hard batter; I almost broke a tooth. The tofu was spongy (like what happens when frozen), which is also wrong for this dish. The dipping liquid was like some jalapeño thing, again wrong for this dish. My hopes were not high due to the cheap price, but this was culinary hell for me. すみません

Bento Ya is a Japanese-style eatery offering a variety of dishes, including Ramen, Bento Boxes, curry, rolls, and salad. Located in Grand Central Market, it can get crowded, especially on weekends, making it a challenge to find a seat. The menu caters to different tastes, with a special section for vegans and vegetarians. One of the most authentic Japanese spots in LA, the food is surprisingly good and serviceable. Sushi is made fresh to order and the tempura is divine. The beef and rice bowl is a highlight. Prices are reasonable for DTLA, but portions lean more snack than meal. It is a pretty quick choice for a simple and easy Japanese meal downtown.
