Very friendly staff, probably the nicest people we’ve encountered in LA since visiting from Pennsylvania. Food was great and prices were good :)

The Old timer and Date burgers are incredible. The applewood bacon is every bit of pure excellence you would want if you desire bacon on your burgers. The burger architects at this established created excellent and flavorful burgers you will not be disappointed in.

Working in WLA one day, and needed to grab lunch, and I love trying new spots. My co-worker recommended Black Sheep, and I had the most delicious burger, a date burger! No frills, no fuss, just a delicious burger with dates and goat cheese, perfectly cooked, quick local service.

It’s really upsetting that they got rid of the best ever carrot cake. But the burgers are really good
Awesome burgers, filling portions, great service, tremendous value. Fully recommend.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Trigger warning:
They play incredibly offensive culturally and politically insensitive worship music over their PA system.
Currently, a widespread authoritarian alliance is attempting to illegally and immorally impose religious based laws forcing birthing, denying trans people’s right to exist, and denying all humans’ the right to bodily autonomy.
Playing the worship music of said religion in your establishment is exclusionary and traumatizing to those affected by such actions and those who have been previously abused by religious people or institutions.
Keep your religion in your home and your church. Keep religion out of the legal system. Separate church from state and from burgers. Freedom of religion includes freedom from religion.

Restaurantji Recommends
So they have a very unique quirky menu
i.e crab meat on a burger patty.
It seems like they take the burger culture and combine it with the surrounding restaurants themes. Which is seafood and sushi.
However in person purchases they do NOT SUPPORT TAP APPLE PAY. which I’ve included a picture of. So be warned that you need a physical card or cash.
That being said the staff is well educated in cooking on time and getting orders out. The staff who took my order is also supporting kitchen staff and you can’t help but notice how fast and how well they work together.

I've come here for lunch a couple times and have gotten both the salmon and ahi tuna grain bowls, both really good and filling. Good sauce, lots of veggies, and a generous portion of crispy salmon. Wish they had a bit more shade covering for outdoor seating

I was expecting the Jamaican style fried chicken wings to be spicy, but it's sweet. It's hard to find Japanese restaurants that is low in sugar usage. Same with Thai, Korean and Chinese food. Not every dish needs to have sugar added.

One of my local Favorites to have lunch with Friends. Prices are reasonable. Food is always great. Service is wonderful.
Their Burgers and other foods are just great.
Hard to find parking in this area so you will get some steps before and after lunch. Win, Win.

Recommended dishes: The Black Sheep Burger
I wanted to LOVE my Black Sheep Burger, but it was just okay. The beef was tasty, freshly made to order, but the rest, pickles, lettuce, tomato and thousand island dressing was meh... It was just over $10. The price seems to change online, depending where Google takes you, though. Perhaps the other specialty burgers are tastier.
There is a weekday special of $16.95 with their house Black Sheep Burger, fries and soda or bottled water. Since I don't drink soda and didn't want to pay for bottled water, I skipped this deal and just wanted to try their BS house burer.
Free parking lot adjacent. The entrance to the lot is on Mississippi, and the sign says YAMAGUCHI. For those who know the history, this location was the formal Japanese family owned Yamaguchi store.
Nice inviting outdoor protected seating as well as indoor counter seating, however there is one corner table spot.
Staff was very friendly, efficient and kind.
