I love 본죽 but I've gotten food poisoning twice from this location. I thought that it was strange that the shrimp in my porridge was unusually cold.

PROS:- Excellent food: Chicken porridge with oriental ingredients and the seafood porridge tasted so good! After eating them, I felt satisfied and healthy. The portions were huge! It came with delicious side dishes as well that complimented the porridge- Wait time: We received our food in a reasonable amount of time (about 10 minutes).- Ambiance: It was in a food court, but it was very clean! The seats and tables for Bonjuk were quite nice.NO CONS!Would I come here again? YES

First time at Bonjuk. Service - sufficiently fast even though it was a Friday night and they had a good flow of customers. My order was taken by a very pleasant lady, who was patient and kind.We tried the sweet pumpkin and the abalone porridge. Yum. Bachan: especially liked the kimchi and the little beef sticks in soy sauce. Will return.Yum.

Their food never disappoints. Their new locations is spacious and has a very nice vibe. As usual the food is warm, fresh made and delicious. Furthermore if you are not feeling well, their food will change that. Super light on the stomach. To find them park on the second level of the California market place parking lot, and go to the third floor, they are in food court part of the mall.

I did not know porridge restaurants existed. My fave! Tried 2 types, really liked both. Would come back if in area. I wonder if they deliver??? Outdoor seating was great!

Comfort food for the soul and tummy. Had the Samgae (chicken with oriental ingredients) for supper. Came back the next morning for Octopus and Kimchi. Really tasty, full of ingredients, with small sides like kimchi and radish. Recommend you just eat it fresh and steaming so that the satisfaction goes right to your core. So. Freaking. Good. You know a place is legit when Koreans are ordering non stop. Was brought back to Insadong Seoul when I first tried Bonjuk and this did not disappoint. This place made me happy. T^T

Ambiance: it's located inside the food court hall on top of the grocery market, you grab your food tray and return to same counter Service: very impatient and rushed with order although they weren't busy at all Food: simple menu items only porridge Banchan - * kimchi and beef, which wasn't fresh and caused diarrhea later Samgae (Chicken with Oriental Ingridients) Porridge - ** This is korean traditional food "samgyelang" which has nutritions and korean ginseng, also it is effective for the recovery from weaniness and illness, weird mixed flavors Abalone Porridge - *** This is korean traditional dish for Royal houscholds which helps to build up the liver function and also good for the recovery from weariness and illness, light taste and chewy abalone Price: overpriced for its mediocre quality, expect about $20~$25 per person

If you're picking up the order, call directly to the restaurant. Viewing the online menu take you to Uber and it will be significantly more expensive vs restaurant price.

No frills, good Korean porridge with very simple side dishes that complement the porridge insanely well. Our go-to is the salmon veggie order.

My go-to spot when I’m sick, or can’t stomach anything heavy for a meal. They have a variety of porridge options, including sweet options (japanese pumpkin, red bean) in addition to the majority of savory. This place is located on the top floor above California Market inside the food court.
