Style over substance, quality ingredients though.

Great vibe and hospitality here. We liked everything we ordered with the exception of the burger. It was overcooked, crumbled apart and was very dry. Small portion too for the high price tag. Favorite dish was the carrot dip however one small piece of bread wasn’t enough to go with it. Also the dessert was a big miss. Very expensive small fruit tart that tasted store-bought.

Atrocious experience top to bottom. Ordered coffee with milk - they forgot the milk. Ordered a side of eggs - they forgot to put it the order and charged for it. Ordered a 7$ juice and received 2oz of liquid in a cup and a half of ice. Took the shakshuka away while eating it. Asked for salt and pepper - took 10 minutes. To top it off - we got kicked out after spending 50 minutes at brunch “because someone had the table reserved”. 90 minutes time limit at a hot dinner restaurant? I could see it. Less than an hour at brunch reservation I made? One waiter mentioned how incredibly rude it was that we were asked to leave for another party. There were MANY open tables. Truly go anywhere else for a better experience, much less at >$40 a head.

The portion size is very small, which is not in line with American food intake. Moreover, it looks like a vegetarian diet.

Everything about this place is fantastic. Food is creative, intuitive, and delicious. The space is multipurpose and the service is impeccably refreshing.
So glad we finally popped in and fell in love with this restaurant after living in the neighborhood for a few years.
Cant wait to come again, and again, and wishing them the best in their journey.

They updated their brunch menu slightly and it made such a difference. The shakshouka is divine. The coffee always so well brewed. All of the seating is nice - outside patio - cozy inside - vibie back semi-outdoor eating area too.

Fantastic ambiance, food, and service! There’s also a shop at the front with some unique and great quality food items.

Such a vibe inside, very airy and light, pretty flowers, greenery.

The food was high quality. Those tomatoes tasted like they were fresh picked from a garden.

As a vegetarian I had a field day with the options available to me. Everything we got was so fresh and beautifully plated.

Was slightly taken aback that my salad that said it would come with eggs came with just half of one egg. Kind of weird but ended up just ordering a side of eggs to supplement. Service was ok, not sure if our waitress was just having a bad day.

I would come back

We rented out the side patio for an intimate wedding dinner and couldn’t have asked for a more amazing venue or experience. For the planning, Pierluc and Emily were extremely accommodating, friendly and flexible with timing and menu changes. All of the food was delicious. The team was so attentive to our needs and made us feel right at home for our special evening. They never interrupted toasts and were very skilled at predicting needs before we even asked for them. Highly recommend Botanica to anyone looking for something similarly beautiful.

I really wanted to like this place but… the dishes weren’t anything to write home about for the price. I got the Turkish eggs which was okay, but the dish came with no more than a *whisper* of yogurt—maybe a tablespoon max. Isn’t the whole point of Turkish eggs the yogurt? My partner’s dish was just okay as well. Maybe they just had an off day, but?

Regrettably, my recent espresso encounter proved to be a letdown. The beverage itself was presented at a tepid temperature, which markedly detracted from its gustatory profile and overall delectability. Furthermore, the flavor profile was decidedly pedestrian, devoid of the depth and intricacy one anticipates from an expertly prepared espresso. Though the service was amiable, the combination of the lukewarm serving and the lackluster taste left an unfavorable impression.

Do you recall the scene from 'Ratatouille' where the critic examines the dish prepared for him with a raised eyebrow and a sceptical look? With low expectations, he hesitantly reaches for the fork to taste the food. Instantly, his pupils dilate, and he's transported back to his childhood in a vivid flashback, evoking deep, joyous emotions. His pen drops from his hand, and time stands still. This experience is the least you can expect when dining at Botanica Restaurant and Market.

My husband and I had come to LA to visit a dear friend from Hollywood, and we were searching for a suitable place to eat, somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the city, where we could dine well and anonymously. We hadn't anticipated what awaited us in this extraordinary restaurant. The waitstaff are exceptionally attentive and genuine, without any of the artificial or ingratiating demeanour one often encounters. Going the extra mile seemed a privilege to them rather than a burden. Our off-menu requests were met without exception and with the utmost enthusiasm, without ever giving us the impression that our request would actually disrupt the restaurant's flow. The unique and warm dining atmosphere added to our comfort and enjoyment.

To our surprise, a neighbour passing by enthusiastically called out to us that this was the best restaurant in Los Angeles. This heartfelt comment spoke volumes, and yes, she was absolutely right. The freshness and quality of the ingredients deserve a category of their own, but it was the composition of the lovingly prepared meals that moved us deeply. We are based in Scotland but travel extensively for work, dining frequently at various establishments, mostly those described as fine dining. It is no exaggeration to say that, to date, no Michelin-starred restaurant has come even close to what we were offered here. The comparison is stark, and in our experience, Botanica Restaurant and Market stands head and shoulders above the rest.

The chefs, the service, and the management do not take themselves too seriously but rather focus on the well-being of the guests and their experience. Restaurants are under immense pressure and often have hierarchies that lead to unpleasant situations for the staff behind the scenes. However, at Botanica Restaurant and Market, different standards appear to be in place, and the harmony and authenticity likely stem from genuine contentment among the staff rather than a staged strategy, as is common in most restaurants.

If we lived in Los Angeles, we would surely dine there weekly. Where else can you find a restaurant like this?
