California Steak and Fries

This place is a hidden gem. If you know, you know. The chicken philly I get all of the time. The steak sandwich is awesome. I haven't had a burger yet, but I bet it's great too. Hopefully I'll try a burger next time.

I enjoyed my last visit to California Steak Fries here. Came in at 8:15pm, there was no wait, shaved steak was flavorful and tender. I enjoyed the Steak 2 with no mushrooms, it was excellent.

Update 1:
The owner should be ashamed of himself. Why doesn't he have AC? It had to be about 90 degrees in there today! The poor guy is sweating, hot, and annoyed (rightfully so). He was working by himself....cooking the food and working the register! He was getting slammed with orders too.

I knew something was off because he wasn't as friendly as he normally is. My cheesesteak was missing a slice of cheese. The fries were way overcooked (all of them were very crunchy). This is unusual. Their food is typically made well.

Side note: There are two guys who work there that I've seen (one is a Black guy and the other is not). I've only encountered the Black guy once. The other guy (not sure of his ethnicity) is mostly there alone.

The owner should make sure there are two people working. He should also invest in AC.

The steak is seasoned well. The sandwich tastes good, but is on the small side. I asked for extra mushroom and onion. Didn't seem like extra was added. The fries were hot and fresh out of the oil.

The customer service was good. The man making the sandwich also worked the register and he was friendly.

The food was very undercooked.The guy cooking the food seemed very distracted on his phone. Seeming to not care. This isn’t the only time. This place should be shut down.

As a Chicago resident i visited Cali Steak and Fries to tap into the culture of Los Angeles and their food. I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the amazing food, service, and atmosphere that Justin had prepared for us. I would 10/10 recommend this sport to anyone that wants some good, fresh cooked food to warm the soul!!

Is this the steak sandwich place that used to be in the fox hills mall?

I will not ordered from this place again. As they seem way 2 busy to make 2 smoothies for delivery and their smoothies are good but are not cheap almost $8 plus tax . You just lost a loyal in person customer and now a customer for delivery .
