It was reeeeal late and they looked closed but the kid closing up eagerly sliced me an inch of chocolate babka from a babka brick behind the bakery counter (which had cashed out hours earlier)
I remarked that they might wanna look into toast pos because this experience earned a fat tip but nowhere to add it.
(Toast is famous for creating an awkward moment between you and the ppl who don't actually perform any rateable service in the food/takeout industries)
Amazing. Thanks, I did not know there was a Canters just blocks away from me in Santa Monica! I asked how long they had been here and to my surprise, he said 3 years.

It’s a tiny, very clean place tucked away in a corner of an old shopping square, mainly for take-out but there are a few small tables that can accommodate about 2-3 people.

I was ordering matzoh ball soup, and pastrami Ruben sandwiches, of course.

I mentioned...
One of the best reubens I've ever had, and maybe the best in LA. EXTREMELY high-quality meat, cheese, bread, sauerkraut, with perfect ratios.

The fries are okay, nothing special.

Good takeout experience.
