This is the café LA needed. It’s like the Venezuelan Cheers- a neighborhood spot to unwind where everybody knows your name and is glad you came. All the staff are sweetie pies and you can tell they’re passionate about what they do.
The food always hits! Best pies you’ll ever have in your life and I could eat an arepa from here everyday (and I do). Don’t sleep on the quesillo latte and they serve some damn good matcha. I love all the unique flower arrangements and abundant produce hanging everywhere it’s just a feast for the eyes.
Chef Karla and the team deserve the world. Chainsaw forever!

The excitement over Chainsaw has been percolating for some time, hence selling out early and crowds of friends and industry supporters coming out to support her. The food is amazing, made with care, and the staff incredibly sweet and accommodating. Chainsaw is a must-try in Los Angeles, and don’t forget the pie.

The staff was SO friendly and super helpful, even as we very slowly perused the menu and decided what we wanted they were very patient haha. The domino arepa, latte, Jamon sandwich and fries were all super flavorful. Loved everything and can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu.

I am so grateful to have dined at Chainsaw Cafe! I heard about a new Venezuelan spot opening in LA and had to go check it out. I was blown away. Each dish was a childhood favorite of mine — Arepas, empanadas, French fries! — but made totally unique. It's like a Mexican and Venezuelan couple had an LA baby who grew up in Thai Town. Somehow that's the best way to explain it LMAO.

I attended the grand opening, the food was delicious, sara ( employee) was nice and helpful. Oscar ( photographer) was helpful. Chainsaw Restaurant 5022 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles California 90038. On my second trip, I had a piece of pie, it was delicious!

Not been yet but welcome to the neighborhood. Great to see that area (Melrose Hill) take on a new life thanks to the developers of the area (Lazry group). Art galleries, coffee shops & a number of new eateries & the grocery store on Melrose. Old buildings have been renovated & remodeled and deals made enabling new businesses start up.

I have read the reviews and would love to try but everytime I have gone, they are either closing or ran out of everything and close early. But there are groups of people eating and hanging outside. Feels like they really only serve their friends or people that look like them.

chainsaw is so beautiful and the food is gorgeous. everything i have eaten here has been perfect. the space is small but you never feel cramped, and people move in and out fast. it feels homey, and a beautiful foray into a Venezuelan kitchen ❣️ order one of everything!
