Chichen Itza offers some of the best tortillas and Poc Chuc tacos, with must-try dishes such as cochinita, bistec yucateco, and tamales. The restaurant is well-known for its longaniza asada and panuchos. Located in Mercado La Paloma next to Holbox, it has a lively marketplace-like atmosphere with a great vibe and friendly people. The food is freshly cooked, and the Mayan-inspired coffee is a highlight. Recent reviews highlight that the food is actually great, with the bistec a la yucateca and pollo asado being highly recommended. The tortillas taste homemade, like from Abuelita, and the bistec is very flavorful. The poc chuc plate is also enjoyed, especially with the habanero sauce. However, finding a table can be challenging since it gets very packed, and some guests tend to stay long. Parking can be difficult due to the popularity of the plaza, which also hosts other food vendors and a famous fish restaurant. While service can be a little slow at times, the food’s quality and vibrant atmosphere make Chichen Itza a hidden gem worth visiting.
