El Carmen is truly a hidden gem in the heart of Los Angeles. They offer a happy hour menu Monday to Friday from 5–7pm with incredible prices ($8 margaritas, $3 tacos) that make it easy to stop by after work without breaking the bank. The drinks are delicious, and I had some of the best shrimp tacos I’ve ever tasted here—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The chips, salsa, and guacamole are also a must-order, with everything tasting homemade and vibrant. It’s a cozy spot with great energy, and I can’t wait to go back.

Delicious Mexican food and drinks at a fair price. The decor is festive and they have the best priced happy hour Margaritas in LA for $8!

The staff is always so friendly and I never tire of this fun and lively spot!!

Small dive bar with the best tequila based drinks in the area. I’ve been going here for years now. Ever since I turned 21. They have great tacos, I’ve tried all of them.. mushroom, chicken, steak, they are all
Good and worth trying. Potato tacos is also a good one. Great veggie options.

This place is considered one of the ā€œlocalā€ more lowkey places. I’ve seen Kylie Jenner here, tyler the creator - it brings in a young crowd sometimes. Definately one of the better bar hopping spots on the 3rd street strip

El Carmen is such a vibe—perfect for a cute date night or a fun after-work hang. The drinks are solid, the food is seriously tasty, and the lucha libre decor adds a playful, unforgettable twist. It’s got just the right mix of cozy and cool. Definitely a go-to spot!

Stepping into El Carmen feels like entering a lively Mexican fiesta. The Lucha Libre theme sets the tone, and the margaritas? Well, they pack a punch—especially the pineapple-infused one. If you're a taco lover, you're in for a treat. The shrimp and beef tacos are loaded with flavor, and the guacamole with chips is just what you need to get things going. Service is on point too, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. Whether you're here for drinks or dinner, El Carmen doesn’t disappoint!

I was recommended by a friend to visit this place. After telling me about this little hidden place for so long. I finally decided to go there. I finally got there. I ordered a strawberry margarita, guava margarita also had to drink Cold cold Bohemia i sure enjoyed it so much it is one of my favorite beers when in mexico visiting also ordered 3 papa abd chorizo taquito and 1 shrimp grilled taco, street corn, for dessert ordered mexican chocolate cake with ice cream. All was very good and was a nice calm spot to just chit chat and chill. Food service is very fast, maragaritas are good. During happy hour time it is even better.

We actually did not eat here. We had a reservation but on walking in the door, the sound level was not to be believed. I would not describe it as loud, the word I would use is DEAFENING.
I had to give my name to the host three times because he couldn't hear me.

We left.
