The location in Echo Park Sunset is my favorite. It's an old world Los Angeles
Institution. I find the food is better here and it's not as hectic as the West Hollywood location. I think they have the best taqueria salsa I've ever had. They make their own chips. They make your guacamole fresh. They have a huge menu, and I think everything is quite good. Don't come looking for a great salads, it's just not the place for that. The atmosphere is amazing, bathrooms are spotless in the evening there is valet parking. During the day you can find some street parking. For anyone with difficulty managing stairs the front door comes right off the street.

Decent food not amazing or authentic. Atmosphere is really cool and service is pretty good. The flaming drinks were the highlight.

First was sat by the stage which was extremely loud by the band. Requested to sit on the other side which was a little bit better. We ordered our food way before this person came in and was brought our food last I believe they treat and serve others by their race and color. The waitress with ponytail was very slow and could not remember what we asked for. We do always tip very well if the service is great but I agree their service needs improvement and you can’t serve someone second when they were there first. Before this place was good. Ordered the mojo de ajo was okay some of the shrimp was overly salted. Next time I’ll take my business to Kalaveras. Better service, atmosphere, ambiance, and music is at a decent level. I’m sorry but I don’t recommend coming here.

If you’re looking for the best Mexican restaurant in LA, El Compadres is the place to go. From the food to the drinks, everything is absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend the #9 plate, the two big chiles rellenos. They’re flavorful, perfectly cooked, and honestly some of the best I’ve ever had.
The drinks are wonderfully crafted, too. Their margaritas are excellent, smooth, strong, and always consistent. Every now and then I like to throw the bartender a curveball and order an Old Fashioned, and they always deliver with a perfectly balanced drink.
El Compadres never disappoints. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. A must-visit spot in LA.

Really unique place, fantastic food and they have a photographer who will come and take your photo if you want and give you a free post card. He does come back and ask if you want to buy any extra photos for $20 but he was so nice about it and we actually did get one and he gave us an extra one as well. Definitely recommended, everyone was so nice.

Excellent food and margaritas. Staff was friendly. Recommend the carnitas for sure. Little pricey but that feels like the norm these days.

Very loud music. The waiter was disorganized and distracted. The food was ordinary at best. I ordered some kind of steak strip it was so tough. I could barely eat it.

I’ve always enjoyed coming to one of my favorite spots in Echo Park, but was really disappointed to find out there’s now a $10 parking fee. It’s frustrating, especially since it was never an issue before. I understand businesses need to make changes, but charging for parking feels like a step in the wrong direction. It definitely takes away from the overall experience... let's see how the food is how I remember..
El padrino plate will fill you up.
