El Compadre Restaurant of Hollywood

Always reliable El Compadre serves old-school Mexican American food, and the food is always delicious. The service can be erratic, but the food and drinks make up for it. Way better than other nearby Mexican restaurants, this is one of our stand-bys and we are twice a month regulars.

El Compadre is my fiancé's restaurant so we were delighted to bring our friends there for a double date night. Wonderful food, ambiance and live Sunday night music :)

Great for a birthday dinner for a group. Everyone was really pleased with the food quality and the flaming margaritas are a showstopper!

The experience began with a frustrating start when our reservation was pushed back on arrival to accommodate the owner giving away our table to their own guests. However, the food was delicious and the waiter was friendly. Annoying situation but overall nice for a casual Monday night dining experience with the family.

LOVE El Compadre! Always good friendly service, delicious food, a good band, KILLER flaming margaritas and a great vibe! DEFINITELY one of our favorites!

Food is gross, bland, didn't finish it.
Chili Relleno had a stem on it.
Chicken Enchilada had a bone in it.
Red sauce for the table chips has Italian dressing in it, I almost barfed.
The beans have no spice.
Rice is overcooked.
Amazed in the worst way - bleh.

I love El Compadre! Family was in town and the first night they got in we went here as a “Welcome to LA” dinner to set the vibe for the trip. It was amazing. Service is great, margaritas are amazing, the booth for 7 people was such a nice experience and the food was really delicious - it's always consistent. We went on Sunday when they have mariachis, extra fun. They're there at least twice a week. Chips and salsa come for free and it's one of my favorite salsas in town. Plus, the guac and queso were amazing. The portions they serve are really big, so some people shared a dish, but most just had great leftovers. Everyone loved the ambiance, music, food, service. It's a great place to celebrate.

The flaming margaritas are big delicious and photogenic! The food outstanding.

I had the fish tacos - generous portions. The fish was light and flaky and not fried! So so good.

Classic Mexican spot in the heart of Hollywood. This place has an old school feel and vibe and the inside is a nice throwback. Big red booths and nice lighting. This is a fun place to come too. The bar area is fun and our server Fermin was wonderful. He took such good care of us. We had so much fun celebrating a birthday here. They also have a nice outdoor area in the back.
