This is not authentic Mexican food, it is not the authentic flavor
So if you're Mexican like me, please don't eat at this place
The prices are so stupid
The food at this place taste juts like the Chipotle fast food

HORRIBLE service. We were not offered chips and our server was so rude. We are from out of town and wanted to try this place before heading home and were so disappointed. When we asked to removed certain things from our meals the girl kept saying she couldn’t do it. Im a server myself and I know she could've. She also snatched the bill from my dad. Filling a corporate complain forsure.

We Sat in the bar area for lunch with apps and sangria. German was awesome, delightful and provided excellent service. Had an excellent meal. thank you for the good memories.
Located in a fun 200-year-old building according to our server. Love the overall vibe and decor.
I’ve visited this restaurant before and enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere, which made my most recent visit—on the last day of the Día de los Muertos event—especially disappointing.
Upon arrival, I was informed that the kitchen was no longer accepting food orders and that only drinks were being served. I accepted this and decided to stay for a drink. However, once seated, I noticed that multiple tables around me were receiving food. When I asked my waitress for clarification, she confirmed that food orders were, in fact, still being accepted.
Despite this, I was still unable to order even a small bowl of guacamole. Watching every table around me receive food while I was repeatedly told I could not place an order left me feeling frustrated and dismissed. Even nearby guests noticed the inconsistency and questioned why I was being treated differently.
What made this experience particularly disheartening is that I have always spoken highly of this restaurant in the past. Unfortunately, this visit left me feeling overlooked—almost as if my presence as a solo diner did not merit the same level of service and attention as larger parties.

Traditional Mexican food and innovative Margaritas. Come hungry and leave happy and stuffed. Amazingly busy and fun especially after a grande margarita. Table side guacamole added to the entertainment. The staff was attentive and made the meal an experience. Right in the heart of Olvera Street. Don’t miss out.

Our party of six arrived when it didn't look too busy. This was my first Mexican restaurant where they didn't offer complimentary chips and salsa. After receiving our beverages, it took a long time for our food to arrive. At that point, we didn't have silverware or napkins. We asked, and the busboy seemed bothered by it. Two of the forks were dirty, and it took a few minutes to get new ones. The carne asada was unflavored and tough. The burritos needed flavoring, so we asked for salsa. They also charge for salsa! The waiter never came back to check on us. I would never return nor would I recommend this place. Their food is not worth the high prices. The service was poor. Not what you expect from a good Mexican restaurant.

The service is good and the waiters are attentive. To preface this review I am Mexican myself. This is a mexican restaurant with no complimentary chips and salsa which was a shock. $7 for mediocre agua de jamaica that comes with no refills. Overpriced margs and carne asada that is bland, everyone agreed at the table that it was bland. I wouldn't come to this place again on my accord, I'd rather go somewhere else or support one of the many street vendors.

Restaurant in the heart of Olvera Street. Food was good but you have to pay for chips and salsa - the cost varies based on the size of your party. Menu is a bit limited too.

While on the pricier side, El Paseo Inn is absolutely delicious. Just steps away from Union Station, it’s the only real highlight of having to be in downtown L.A. The staff were friendly, and the service was prompt. We ordered two tacos and the tomato shrimp—both were excellent. The chips and salsa were fresh and flavorful, with the salsa verde being my favorite. A great spot if you’re in the area and don’t mind spending a bit more.

It was my first time here and they did not disappoint. The service was quick and the food was delicious. The chips and salsa started the meal. The chips were light and crispy. Beverages came quickly and the wait was minimal for the food. I ordered the mole enchiladas which were satisfying and filling. I'll definitely return for another meal when I can.

To celebrate our daughter's birthday, we decided to meet with our family at El Paseo Inn, for a late lunch. When we arrived the line was long, but we only waiting about 10 minutes before we were next. We had a large party of 12 and we were seated in the lower dining room. Upon arriving at our table, it took our waiter 15 minutes to arrive at our table to take our drink and appetizer order. The appetizer (endless chips and salsa) was delivered by one of the workers that was also cleaning up the tables. He seemed to have an attitude, something that would only seem to worsen as the time progressed. I figured since they were busy (we were the only ones seated in this area), that perhaps that was causing a delay in tending to our party, but as the time went on it was playing out as if they forgot us, even tho we were in eyesight (and for those waiters that saw us), we noticed the giggles going on while getting awkward looks from staff. It was now feeling very uncomfortable. When our food arrived, the worker from the kitchen that came to assist our waiter, was rude and shouldn't have even come in that day as he was irritated with everyone. We spoke to the manager, who did apologize and did mention that they were aware of these workers, we are not the first to complain, and that he would now be tending to our table. After that, we had no problems for the remainder of our time. I appreciate the manager stepping in, but NEVER would think at a restaurant (that stays busy) would treat its patrons in this manner and management seems to be ok with this, as they step in to rectify but how do they make their staff understand making your customers feel like this? What's even sadder to me is I am born and raised in Los Angeles. Olvera street is special to me for many things and wanting to celebrate my own with my family, around our culture, was supposed to be a special day/experience. Sadly it left the sourest taste in our mouths. I wish our cultura would get it together, why would you want anyone to feel like this? I am Mexican and my husband is Beautifully black, and my kids are a equally beautiful parts of us. Not sure if that is the problem, but given the treatment, stares/giggles, hard to think it wasn't. Do better El Paseo management and staff....the world has enough darkness!

Delicious food. This was the first time being here. I love moles so I had to try it here. It was a sweet type of mole that was more red than black. We also ordered guacamole 🥑 and chips that was made in front of us. We also had machaca which I really liked because it wasn’t as salty and it usually is since it is made with dry salted meat. We also had coffee, mimosas and bloody Maries which I forgot to take pictures of but were delicious. This restaurant was in a nice place with lots of vendors near by. Staff was friendly and place was beautiful and clean. Will be coming back soon.
