The place is small but they have a good variety of Mexican bread and chapín, it was worth coming.... I arrived at 3:30 and the bread is still fresh... ??

The best pan dulce. Consistently fresh, flavorful and delicious. Been going since my childhood, always the place to go to for parties. They have mini conchas, elotes, and the mini empanadas de guava are the best.

The second time being served a dried out tamale. The masa was crumbly like it was freezer burnt then nuked. The smear of filling was almost nonexistent!Service without a smile. Environment is clean. El Pavo was once a reliably good Tamale bakery. For consistently good Tamales,I highly recommend going the extra mile to Maria's or Diana's in El Monte.

October 2023 - Extremely disappointed, the bread size has shrunk, and the times I've been there, it's old and hard. I go back to see if maybe it was just my luck, but no. Lately, the bread isn't fresh anymore. Maybe sales have gone down because the bread has definitely gotten much smaller. I'm sad to say I won't go anymore because it's very good. Unless they start selling fresh bread and making it the same size, I refuse to go back. The bread is delicious. However, the ladies working there need some customer service skills. No eye contact, and you get dry answers that leave you with more questions. It seems they're not there to assist customers, and they hired them to collect money.

Growing up, El Pavo was ALWAYS a weekend staple. Fresh and warm from the oven, we would eat our pan dulce with chocoláte caliente for breakfast. Lately, not only has the quality gone down, but so has the selection. I was craving AUTHENTIC MEXICAN pan dulce, so on the way home from errands we stopped in around 11am. Upon checking the breads, I could tell that most of them were day old bread (cold and hard). As we went to check out, the lady at the counter was bagging everything with tongs, then I noticed that she was taking CASH payment and handling the customers' money WHILE BAGGING the bread, all WITHOUT GLOVES. That was the last straw. I will NEVER buy at El Pavo Lincoln Heights again. From now on, when I want pan dulce, I will make the drive to Whittier and go to El Gallo! I have NEVER been dissatisfied or disappointed with their quality, selection, or cleanliness.

El Pavo is a treasure, and Doña Elia always makes our day, she remembers everyone’s name and always greets us with a smile. The breads are all delicious, we are loving the Pan De Muerto right now. We get every birthday cake made there. Other places need days of advance notice. El Pavo does custom cakes with less that 24 hours turn around. Thank you for making all our celebrations so delicious ?

This bakery has all the essentials. The employees are always helpful and friendly as well. Love that make ginormous conchas. Would recommend!

Love their bread, customer service is OK, what gets is the loong nails of the cashier, she should at least be required to wear gloves. Non hygienic.
