Have to say I'm somewhat disappointed. It was a Saturday afternoon and quiet in the area. But still kind of hard to find parking since is street parking only. The interior is quite small and not so zen like gotta the videos I've seen on the Instagram. Guess it was a IG vs reality moment. The outdoor area wasn't opened either. I ordered the ujikintoki and the coconut matcha. For a $8 matcha I was early expecting much more. It was good, but also very small. I had uji match before at a lower price tag. What disappointed me the most was the coconut matcha. It was a coconut milk foam, which tasted oddly weird. It was sour like the milk went bad. My partner tried it and agreed with me too so it wasn't just me. I was afraid I would get an upset stomach since it tasted VERY abnormal so I told the barista and he said he would make me another drink. So I quickly chose the strawberry matcha which is a bit cheaper. I didn't read the description and didn't realize it was actually strawberry milk. Basically it tasted like binggrae artificial strawberry milk and matcha. Did not enjoy that at all. Overall nothing here makes me want to go back.

If you're looking for a nice place to retreat from the heat, then this little hidden cafe in the Arts District is your answer. Parking - No lot available, you'll have to do street parking; fortunately, it's free, so we parked right outside!Location - Right next to Yangban and inside the building itself is their sister restaurant, kōdo. The space itself is small but also very open. There's only three/four available tables, but we were able to snag a seat within 5 minutes of waiting (we came around 4pm). Food/Drinks - They have pastries and food available, but my partner and I were more thirsty than hungry, so we opted for the Sunny Hojicha and Yuzu Lychee Spritz -- and dear Lord, did they hit the spot. (1) Sunny Hojicha: Smooth, citrusy, refreshing. The hojicha flavor was mild and didn't overpower the bright citrus flavor, which I appreciated. (2) Yuzu Lychee Spritz: Very light and refreshing. We both liked this one the most, especially with how hot it was outside. It even comes with a few lychee bits that you can snack on!Overall (5/5) - If you're ever in the Arts District, Rykn is definitely a must.

I've been wanting to try Rykn out for a while, I loved the aesthetics of this place so it's been on my list! I saw that they were having a pop up with LMS so thought it was the perfect time to go. I accidentally parked in the Bread parking lot, so I'm assuming it's street parking for the most part. I went with my friend and the vibe of the place is so nice - both indoor and outdoor was great. We ordered the strawberry matcha w/ oat milk and matcha latte w/ oat milk. Ordering system was a bit weird and unorganized in my opinion. There was a lot of people waiting for their drinks and instead of taking names down, they just called out the drink order... which didn't work too well since some people had the same order as others. Anyways, matcha strawberry - tasty with strong matcha! My friend ordered this one and it was enjoyable. I got the matcha latte w/ oat milk, it was tasty but I think the matcha could've definitely been stronger. They use high quality matcha so that was a plus. Since it was a pop up event, the place was pretty crowded. My friend and I took a seat on the benches indoor but there was a swarm of flies inside and that was honestly so unpleasing to be around. Once they opened the outdoor area, the flies went away and there was much more seating for people (also love their outdoor space, it's so nice!)Great place to grab a quick matcha/coffee and chat but I'm not sure if it's a good place to study/work because I didn't see too many outlets and there weren't many seats. Overall, a 7/10 matcha latte in my books so I'll be back!

I love their tea selection here. I tried their coconut matcha which is a creamy and slightly sweet and their regular matcha tea. I wanted to try their ginger chai but I think they were out at the time. Plenty of seating and love their minimalist decor.

Honestly I love the aesthetic of this place and it's quite peaceful but not too quiet given the indoor/outdoor vibe! Drinks came out quick and we ordered the matcha latte and strawberry latte but it wasn't anything special. I've definitely had better matcha lattes but it was certainly aesthetic. There's actually a good amount of seating indoor and outdoor but most people come here for pics. My friends and I came on a Sunday afternoon and we were easily able to get street parking!

My friend recommended this place after our morning hike. I tried their off-menu strawberry matcha latte and it was delicious. The minimalistic design of the place caught my eye and I plan to try their food next time. Street parking is available.

Was a bit disappointed by my experience here over the weekend and it felt a bit IG vs reality to me. Having seen all the beautiful pictures and this place featured in various YT videos, was super excited to check out a new, aesthetic coffee shop. But the ambiance and experience fell short in person... all the decor in the shelved wall was missing and the energy and service felt low and very bare minimum. We tried their signature black sesame latte and the Japanese beet sugar latte. Both were good but not memorable or special enough that I'd make the trip back. Black sesame latte was better than the beet sugar one, which tasted pretty standard, just with a bit of an aftertaste that indicated there was a special flavor included in the drink.

Rykyn is a beautiful cafe located near Bestia in DTLA. The decor is simplistic and contemporary and it reminded me of a zen garden.Service was decent and my order came out quick! I ordered the matcha yuzu lemonade - which had such a unique and strong flavor that I enjoyed. For $6, there wasn't much to drink though. The cafe is frequently visited by photographers and fashionistas - who are attracted to the beautiful decor and modern setting.

One of my good friends told me about this place when I was in LA and gave it a go. I used to frequent the Arts District area and realized they had taken over the spot where the Firehouse Hotel was - the last company I worked for had their holiday party here. The Rykn Cafe is a modern minimalist Japanese influenced styled cafe. I came for the Black Sesame Cappuccino - they use oat milk for all of their drinks that include any type of milk which is great because I don't typically order cappuccinos and if I do have a drink that requires some type of milk, I usually sub with oat milk.I wish they had different sizes for their drinks- I would have ordered another in a larger size because it was that good! I loved the interior - great place to sit and chat, read, write, etc. They also serve food, but I had just eaten. I wish it was easier to find parking nearby. Since I knew the location well, I knew of places I could check to park. Highly rec the BLACK SESAME CAPPUCCINO!

Website disappeared, phone number out of order. I have a 500$ gift certificate for this place that hasn’t been redeemed or refunded, and now this business just doesn’t exist. I understand covid has hurt a lot of businesses but you can’t just steal people’s money.

The food is incredible and they have nailed the ambiance in every nook of this space. I think they've closed down due to Covid but I still wanted to share.

Came here as a group, and we did family style, which means I can try a lot of different kinds of food! The waitresses were very friendly. However, service was a little slow (took 2 hours from ordering to pay our bill). The environment was very romantic, and it is perfect for a date lunch/dinner! We ordered trout tartine, fries, a combination of French onion soup and half of BLAT sandwich. The trout tartine was light, and it served well as an appetizer. The fries was perfectly seasoned. The sandwich was a bit too oily because of the bacon. We ordered matcha latte, cheesecake, and key lime pie as dessert. The key lime pie is surprisingly tasty! I tasted some herbs in it, but I cannot tell what it was. The cheesecake was a little too typical, nothing too surprising. The matcha latte was a bit too bitter. I was a little sad that the brownies were sold out, as I heard that they are famous for their brownies! Overall, nothing too surprising. It was a little pricy because of the location and it is a restaurant at a hotel. Staff was friendly, but service was slow.
