As a New Orleans native, I would NOT recommend ordering the seafood. My aunt (also a NOLA native) and I went for brunch today after reading the reviews & the food was very Underwhelming. We both ordered the side portion of the catfish & shrimp combo. I asked for the fish to be fried “hard” but it was undercooked. You get 4 colossal sized shrimp and they were tough. The yellow plastic plates were unappealing & our meals were randomly garnished with a tomato and orange slice! Similarly the homestyle potatoes were unnecessarily covered in chives. The $1 biscuit that folks raved about was mediocre. The best thing on the menu was the drink, “The Mix”. The meal was absolutely NOT worth the $55 + tip that was spent.

Small neighborhood restaurant. Therefore, cozy seating. A restaurant you go to eat and leave (order to go) not a space to hangout. Now on to the 5 star parts.
I had the Shrimp & Grits with shrimp etoufee sauce.... Delicious! I normally do not eat grits in restaurants because I'm picky about grits. This dish was perfect in texture, flavor, and plenty of large shrimp. One serving can be easily shared with 2 people. The biscuits are divine!
We were a party of 6 and everyone was greatly pleased and satisfied. Dishes ordered was the fried catfish, crab omelet, wings, pancakes, and shrimp & catfish combo and everyone gave a thumbs up.
They don't take reservations so go with some time to wait in case they are busy. We were lucky and they were able to accommodate us.
I will definitely go back when in the area again!

Some of these low reviews crack me up lol but maybe they improved because I had a GREAT experience. I am so glad I went. My cousin from Canada will call me up when she is in LA and we get to experience a local (black owned soul food if we can) cuisine together. This time it was flavor table and the food was solid! We were attended to right away and when seated our waiter Willie had all the energy and got our drinks right away. We ordered our food and it didn't take too long but everything was piping hot, I love this. I would prefer fresh hot food vs warm food because I'll just send it back to get heated up. I ordered the wings combo and the peace cobbler French toast. Fire! The wing (asked for them to be fried hard) came out perfect and delicious. Wings were juicy. The peach cobbler sauce was perfect not too sweet and just right to pour over the French toast. I love that it comes in a bowl so I am in control of how I want to dress up my French toast. This is a solid establishment and all the waiters paid attention but wasn't in my face every second which was great. Oh yeah they forgot our waters and Willie was occupied so the gentleman that seated us was right there so I asked him for our water and he was super apologetic and got us 3 waters right away. Lovely service/staff and nice atmosphere.

some of the best peach cobbler French toast I’ve ever had tasted and the most well cooked grits not too runny not too stiff perfect and shrimp fried to perfection. I suggest you make your way on over to the flavor table.
