I knew I was going to be leaving a review as soon as they handed me my bag. A $16 sandwich plus tax and tip was $20 and felt like they handed me a bag full of air. I opened as soon as I got to my car and couldn't believe I just drove across town, waited 25 min and paid $20 for this. I knew I was going to have to stop somewhere else to get food for dinner after I eat my chicken parm "snack", it is barely a meal. One should never be hungry and annoyed after making a trip to go get dinner.I grew up in Queens NY and have had more chicken cutlet Parm sandwiches than I can remember. I was really excited to try this place after all the hype. This is not the place to go and sadly is not worth the money, time or effort.Ordered online and they told me 25 min to pick up. After finding a meter in the rain and walking over 5 min early figuring I'd get it while it was hot, but my little sandwich had been sitting there in paper on a cold counter for a good amount of time as it was luke warm. They put it on a cardboard appetizer type tray, inside of a cardboard box, inside of a huge paper bag with handles, wasting paper and killing trees like they are going out of style. One piece of foil would have been better for the trees and for customer service. Its one little sandwich do we been to take down a whole forest to serve a cold hot sandOkay but was it tasty? Ehh.. it was just okay. The cutlet was good but I didn't like the hard seeded bread at all. Honestly, I've had so many better sandwiches in LA. Id go just about anywhere including Jersey Mike's before this place again. If this is the best Ggiata can do Id rather support the chain restaurant, at least they have foil and I don't need two sandwiches to fill me up.

I've passed the sandwich, place a couple of times before I finally placed an order for pick up because there's usually a crowd waiting inside when I passed by and I wanted to avoid that long wait. So I placed an order for three sandwiches for me and my department for pick up more than an hour in advance. When I get there, they seem busy, and I let them know that I am picking up an order that I placed online and it took them only a moment to find my order and tell me that it was gonna be another 15 minutes til it was ready. So I wait on one of the seats outside 15 minutes and then go back inside, and my order isn't bagged yet. As I'm waiting, someone else comes up because she had called a correction in to her online order. Yes, this review is a bit tedious, but that's what it was like to get my sandwiches which were delicious by the way. Short story long, order in advance and show up 20 minutes late.

I've eaten here before my job decided to order Ggiata for lunch today and I got the tuna sandwich and the bread smelled like cigarettes... I don't know if the person who made my sandwich didn't wash their hands or if the grill they use to toast the bread was dirty but my hands smell like cigarettes and honestly I am really grossed out... probably won't be eating here ever again

We just got Ggiata delivered and we love everything we had. The tuna salad on seeded bread was very fresh. I love the green tomatoes. Extra capers was nice. The bread held up even through drive. The meatballs were very well seasoned and herby. We had them with the bread and a side of pasta we made. Definitely big fan of charred bread. The Italian cookies were so soft and not too sweet. I wish I had a dozen of them. The chocolate chip cookie looks promising, haven't dug into it yet.

Too expensive. Meatball was good but not great. Sandwich was cold plus it was sesame seed bread. ?? it tasted like it may have been microwaved a little bit before the meatballs were put on. For $16 it was a small sandwich plus the beer plus the tip it came to just over $30. I did not think that it was worth

These sandwiches are the best sandwiches I've ever eaten hands-down, full stop, bar none. You truly cannot go wrong. One of my favorites is their tuna, anything egg plant or chicken Parmesan related or turkey. Fun ambience takes a while but it's so worth it. I can't even describe. If you need sandwiches in Venice, you would be a fool to go out anywhere else.

i mean nothing special here. spicy p tastes like store bought marinara sauce. sandwiches fall apart and it dooesnt fit in the bread. idk what the AI reviews below are saying but honestly this was a waste of money. id jersey mikes over this any day. although this was better than subway

I went to Ggiata Delicatessen for lunch several months ago, and it has since become my go-to spot for delivery sandwiches. The place is charming, but now that I know how well the sandwiches fare on that short drive to my house, I doubt I'll ever go in person again. I went with a couple of friends after a failed attempt to go to Kuya Lord, which was randomly closed the day of our lunch. I'd been meaning to try Ggiata, and it seemed like an easy alternative, right next door on Melrose. The deli was cute and welcoming, and service was friendly. It was also slow, though, and there was very little seating. We ended up roasting at this table in the alley with no sun cover, and by the time our food was ready, we decided to take it to go and eat at my house. Essentially, this was a cumbersome pick-up lunch, and it turns out delivery works great. I'm actually waiting on a Ggiata order from Postmates as I write this review. The food is absolutely fantastic. I've sampled a broad chunk of the menu at this point and have yet to run into a single dud. Ggiata offers about 20 hot and cold Italian/Jersey-style deli sandwiches in addition to several breakfast sandwiches, which I haven't tried, and several sides and salads. The bread, the meat, the cheese, the vegetables--everything is top quality, and thoughtfully combined. Even the bagged potato chips are good, from a company called Joe Tea that makes tea and chips. (If you guessed that Ggiata is the kind of place where you can't get a Diet Coke, though, you would be correct. I supply my own--another perk of delivery.) There a dozen hot sandwiches to choose from, all of them on Ggiata's wonderful charred seeded baguette, and so far, I haven't chosen wrong. The Spicy P is an excellent chicken parm with chicken cutlet, spicy vodka sauce, fresh mozzarella, grated romano, basil pesto, and fresh basil. If you prefer to skip the spice, there's also a chicken parm with pomodoro sauce, as well as an eggplant parm. I can personally vouch for the Meatball Parm, a classic beaut with homemade pork and beef meatballs, mozzarella, romano, pomodoro sauce, basil pesto, and basil. I adore the J-Stilly, with grilled chicken, prosciutto di Parma, stracciatella, heirloom tomato, arugula, Calabrian aioli, and honey. The Rocky is great, too, a sort of Italian-American cheeseburger with ground beef, New School American cheese, white onion, peperoncini, tomato, ketchup, and mayo. On the cold side (ideal if you want to eat half now, half tomorrow), the Classic Italian is a home run, with cotto ham, salami, hot capicola, smoked Muenster, Calabrian chilies, shredded romaine, heirloom tomato, shredded onion, red wine vinaigrette, and Calabrian aioli on charred seeded baguette. I also love the Antonia, a superb turkey avocado sandwich with Muenster cheese, heirloom tomato, and garlic aioli on charred ciabatta. The Olivia is a solid pesto chicken salad sandwich with mozzarella, sun-dried tomato spread, pickled onions, and arugula on ciabatta. If you want something to go with your sandwich, Ggiata has great meatballs--the same ones from the Meatball Parm, served with pomodoro sauce and grilled ciabatta--and the salads are lovely. The bitter greens salad is a compelling mix of arugula, grilled radicchio, endive, shaved fennel, roasted pistachios, goat cheese, roasted broccolini, and balsamic vinaigrette. The chopped salad is vibrant with romaine, grilled radicchio, salami, sharp provolone, chickpeas, roasted red pepper, pickled onion, heirloom tomatoes, and red wine vinaigrette. Even the simple arugula and fennel salad is worthwhile, bright and fresh with shaved parm and lemon vinaigrette. I'd highly recommend Ggiata for all of your sandwich needs, especially if you live within the delivery radius. I've ordered from them about five time and still haven't run out of sandwiches to try. I look forward to getting through the whole menu, but I already have several sandwiches I plan to eat again and again.

Overpriced food. Their curbside pick up is non existent as their phone goes straight to voicemail

So I decided to call in a small order since i live down the street. I called, placed my order and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes.I came in to pick up my order CASH in hand!Mind you, nobody told me on the phone it was a preferred payment method.I walk in, tell the cashier my order and she tells me. Ggiata doesn't accept cash. Only card. When i tell you i was Pissed!I didn't want to use my card i almost walked out because why wasn't this told to me over the phone? This is a crucial piece of information!Especially for customers doing pickup orders!Ggiata: The same business i walk pass everyday and decided to give a try & this was my experience!I have constructive criticism for this place. If you take Card only inform your customers! I was also told that "we have been doing this since the pandemic & we assumed everyone knew"? Why would you assume that? You would think as a business... you would know that NEW customers call daily and they would need to know cash is not accepted!SMH EXTREMELY disappointed in my experience here.I called & spoke to the manager but this bothered me so much i have to put it here.P.S: Put a sign on the front window if you do not accept cash!! Not good business etiquette don't assume everyone knows your policy! This is California !! People carry cash, card, zelle, apple pay!Inform your guest of your NO CASH POLICY!!Thank youDietary restrictions: not sure

As someone who isn't typically drawn to delis, my experience at Ggiata Delicatessen was a delightful surprise. Their aptly named "Masterpiece" sandwich genuinely lives up to its title, offering a burst of flavors that redefine the standard deli fare. It's a standout dish that speaks volumes about the quality and care put into every bite. Price-wise, it's a bit on the higher side, but the value you get in terms of taste and quality is undeniable. It's an investment in a premium, culinary delight that's worth it. I did have a unique encounter with their rosemary hashbrowns. While not entirely to my liking, I appreciate the innovative twist they've taken with this side dish. It's important to note that Ggiata Delicatessen is primarily a takeout spot. There's no seating available inside, which emphasizes the grab-and-go nature of the place. Outside, you'll find about five bar stools, quaintly positioned in an alleyway driveway. It adds to the charm and no-frills approach of this establishment, focusing purely on the quality of the food rather than dine-in amenities. In conclusion, Ggiata Delicatessen is a must-try for anyone in search of exceptional sandwiches. Despite my initial indifference towards deli offerings, I find myself eagerly anticipating my next visit. Their commitment to culinary excellence, combined with their unique take on classic dishes, truly sets them apart. Highly recommended for a top-notch takeout experience!
