I first discovered Gus’s in Memphis and couldn’t wait to try the LA location after moving here — and I’m happy to say it’s just as incredible. The chicken is fried to perfection: crispy, not greasy, and seasoned beautifully. It’s somehow rich yet feels light, which is rare for fried food.

The staff are friendly, laid-back, and quick with service. This has quickly become one of my top 10 go-to spots in LA for comfort food that’s consistently excellent.

The only thing I hope they improve is better management of the dine-in space. On my last two visits, a few non-dining individuals were allowed to sit inside for extended periods, which made the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable for guests. A little more attentiveness in maintaining the dining environment would make a big difference.

That said, I still love this place and will absolutely keep coming back — it’s fried chicken done right.

Our family was so impressed with this meal. Hands down the best fried chicken we’ve ever had. Our server Allison was so kind, helpful and patient with our large group of 10. We’ll be coming back!!

Gus’s Fried Chicken is hands down the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! The batter is perfectly crispy, and the chicken is so juicy and tender. I also tried the mac and cheese, and it was creamy and delicious. The service was quick and friendly, and I appreciated that they kept the ambiance casual. Definitely coming back to try more sides next time!

I went to try this place for the first due to all the reviews. Service was excellent and the waiter was very nice. I ordered a 3 piece dark meat with beans and sweet iced tea. The chicken was tender and juicy but not too much flavor. It was nothing crazy just normal chicken I tried it, it was decent, probably won’t come back.

Had to pull up on Gus’s to see what the hype was about, and overall, it didn’t disappoint.

I ordered the 2-piece combo (breast & wing) and went full comfort food mode with mac & cheese, potato salad, and a side of baked beans. First things first — that chicken? 🔥 You could tell it was the star of the show. Perfectly crispy skin, juicy inside, seasoned well. I drenched it in Louisiana hot sauce (as one does) and it hit just right. Spicy, tangy, crunchy — no complaints there.

Now the mac & cheese… eh. It gave serious Kraft vibes, like they laid some shredded cheese on top but didn’t even bake it to get that crust or melt it all the way. It wasn’t terrible, but definitely the weak link on the plate.

Potato salad was decent. Creamy, a little tangy — nothing too wild, but it did its job. The baked beans surprised me though — super sweet and full of flavor. Almost like candied beans. A solid side.

The place has that Southern hole-in-the-wall energy, which I love. Staff was cool, food came out quick, and the prices felt fair for what you’re getting.

Would I come back? Absolutely — just skipping the mac next time.

This chicken is good! The Mac and cheese was not. I would come back for that chicken tho! I even dropped a piece outside and double back for another piece.

One of the best fried chicken places in LA. Now I know what fresh chicken tastes like. That kick of heat is fantastic.

Went here last year when I was visiting Newport Beach, best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Service was great and fast.
