-slighty sketchy area of arts District (surrounded by warehouses) but dining area inside is nice; street parking free-seasonal sides-seems to be more of a take out place but option to dine inside-good drink selection-clean restrooms

I recently took my lunch break at Guzzu Bento-ya, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. I opted for their Hayashi Rice, a flavorful twist on Japanese beef stew, and it instantly became my new favorite comfort food, especially in the chilly weather. The braised tender beef, onions, and mushrooms melded together perfectly, creating a hearty and satisfying meal. The space was cozy and perfect to do some work. I love how they have anime playing on the projector.Beyond their renowned bento boxes, Guzzu Bento-ya impressed me with their new salads and stews, each bursting with flavor. The staff was incredibly accommodating, offering spot-on recommendations that enhanced my dining experience. Whether you're craving a classic bento box or eager to explore their latest offerings, Guzzu Bento-ya is sure to exceed your expectations. Highly recommended!5/5

What a unique idea! The best part about downtown LA is there is always so much diversity and talent around each corner. On this corner, there are adorable and delicious bento boxes in a small counter-serve restaurant. I was surprised to find that there were actually a few free parking spots right outside the restaurant, which is unheard of in this area. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and the cashier was able to give a detailed description of the menu items. The dining area was clean, was playing One Piece on a TV, and had little anime figurines and other decorations sprawled about. Don’t let the appearance of the little box fool you either; this was a filling meal! Perfect portion size. I had no complaints at all about this restaurant. Will definitely return the next time I’m passing through.

Great little spot on the south east end of dtla. The area is a little sketch but don’t let that fool you. Easy street parking, the restaurant is clean and has great food. I was here during an event and tried the mackerel, cucumbers, rice, lotus chips and fried tofu. Literally the best bento: super tasty and fresh. The lotus chips and mackerel are my fave. You’ve gotta try this place. Will definitely drop by again for a tasty lunch.

Best bento! My colleague and I both ordered a chicken karaage bento for lunch from Guzzu through Uber Eats. What arrived was way more than we could have expected. The bento came with two boxes. One box was for the tsukemono sides. There was delicious lotus root, mushrooms, potato salad, sweet potato and more. Each item was made delicately and authentically. In the other box, was a bed of rice with an egg yolk and our chicken karaage. The chicken was cooked perfectly. This was an incredibly high quality bento and well worth the reasonable price!

I recently tried Guzzu’s Bento and I must say it was a very good, also incredibly tasty. Especially grilled chicken, was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. The variety of additional salads they offer is impressive, ensuring a well-rounded meal. Especially the portions are generous, leaving you satisfied for the entire day. I highly recommend Guzzu Bento-ya ?????

I really wanted to like this place. The manager said we got there before the rush and he would have the chicken fried fresh and to us in 5 minutes. We waited patiently and at the 30 minute mark they hadn't even started making our meal?? Then 5 minutes later we are given our meals, literally cold to the touch. Unbelievably bad service and not a single apology given. I won't be back ever again.

How good can bentos be? Well, come here and find out because they were amazing. Yes, its on the pricier side but this is such a treat. There are so many components in each bento that is made to perfection. Its located in the kinda ghetto/warehouse part of LA, but there is free parking. The inside has decent amount of seating but I think most people do takeout. Service is non existent - you order, sit down and eat. Self serve waters and utensils.

What I ordered:**9.5/10: Grilled Jidori Chicken - $- grilled to perfection!- juicy and tender- nice sweet yakitori glaze**10/10: Jidori Chicken Karaage- flavorful and well balanced by the yuzu mayo- loved the crunch, even after being delivered!**9.5/10: SC Farms Miso Tonkatsu- so crunchy - miso tonkatsu sauce was good, but i like it more tart I ordered this for delivery and honestly, Guzzu makes the best bento I have ever tried. While I can not attest to their quality of service, the quality of their food is phenomenal. Every side is unique and packed with wonderful flavors! My favorite sides were the daigaku imo (candied sweet potato), potato salad, and pickled eggplant. Everything was also seasoned to perfection. I would highly recommend this, as it's a great meal to pick up for a picnic or quick lunch. It is so worth it!!Food: 10/10Service: -/10Total: 10/10

Looking at the reviews and knowing that this is a top spot to try on Yelp, I had to try Guzzu Bento-Ya. I have never had a premium bento box like this, so it was a great experience. From the outside, it doesn't look like much, and it's in an industrial area but inside, it was very comfortable and quiet! Each bento contains two boxes, one with vegetables and the other with protein and rice. I chose the Chicken Kaarage, and my girlfriend ordered the Hambagu. Both were amazing, and I'm glad I tried both. The bento box hits the "rainbow" when eating, meaning everything in your meal is a different color and healthy overall. Next time, I would be down to try the Grilled Jidori Chicken or the Miso Tonkatsu.

I was first introduced to Guzzu when I volunteered at the API toy drive. They were one of the vendors and I was assigned to help them at the event. But they actually had enough help for the event so I just ended up talking with their staff the majority of the time. I saw them again at the Nisei Week plaza festival and this time I was able to buy a few of their bentos. And they even came in a cute bag to carry which was so convenient. I've also had their bentos before when my friends brought them for dinner when we went to a Dodger game. Recently, I was able to order from them. I ordered through their website and it was very easy. I ordered an Hambagu bento and the Hayashi rice. I had the Hambagu bento for lunch that day and saved the Hayashi rice for a meal later. I've had their bentos before and it was enough for two meals for me. The sides are so good. I like that they separate their main dish from the sides. The sides can be a meal itself. The Hambagu was so tender. Everything is so good. When I warmed up my Hayashi rice, I couldn't help but eat the whole thing. Their brick and mortar is near the row in the industrial part of downtown. So parking was available. Since you are in the industrial part of downtown, you come across a lot of big rigs. I will definitely be back.

I got the tonkatsu bento and it was great! I could tell it was freshly fried for me and the amount of food was a great value!
