Food was good but nothing I'd go back for. The ambience was pretty casual and servers weren't anymore attentive that at any other restaurant. Definitely didn't feel like a Michelin star restaurant.
Gwen is always excellent. From choosing your own knife-that comes with a story by the hosts-, to drink selections, to the meats that hang behind the glass by the booths, every detail is well thought out and executed to the highest level. Everything slaps!
went for dinner, overall pretty good but inconsistent food quality. we ordered the beef tartare, chicken liver mousse, two pastas, the flat iron, duck leg, the leeks and onions, and the pistachio dessert, and a cocktail - the drink was very good, so were the two apps. the apps were very rich though so if that's not your thing keep that in mind - the pastas were very mid. the lamb gnocchi gave lufthansa business class vibes and the white sauce pasta had enough salt to pay a few roman legions - the flat iron was good and nicely paired with what was on the plate - the duck leg was too salty and overall underwhelming - the side of leeks and onions was very good, also very rich - pistachio dessert was good very friendly and helpful service. only thing is they brought the pastas and two meats all at the same time which we weren't expecting and definitely made the experience worse. might have been because the kitchen was closing. not a huge deal but still nice ambiance overall. educational water menu overall i would say worth to sit at the bar get a few drinks and appetizers or maybe a steak, but way too inconsistent for a blowout dinner
After our travel plans didnt go to plan because of the weather we were lucky enough to score a table and our visit to Gwen was the highlight of the trip. The service, the food is something we still reminisce. How could one beat the best Bread service in the world and the wagyu flat iron that melts in the mouth. And thank you for offering us with to go hot beverage as we wait for our uber in the cold. 10/10 experience.
Wonderful food. Amazing table service. The water menu is cute and hilarious, don't let people who take themsevles too seriously stop you from coming because they have a water menu.
The variety of flavors was incredible. We ordered four different dishes à la carte, always guided by our waiter Jordan (what a great guy!). All his recommendations were spot on. I'll definitely be back.
Exquisite dinner. Service was absolutely perfect. Attention to detail, food, and overall ambience was great. We had a wonderful conversation with the diner next to us, so the sound level, while loud, was not too bad for such an open space. The steaks and sides, including the appetizers and wine, were spot on.
We had a wonderful dinner and experience at Gwen. We booked for our wedding anniversary and Gwen's staff went above and beyond making it special. The food is also unique and top notch and the ambience was beautiful.
Gwen is one of our favorite restaurants. We love that every time we dine here, there are new menu items and little surprises. Last night, we were treated to a delightful savory palate cleanser - a mushroom broth (delicious)! Tonight we ordered oysters, scallop crudo, a 50-day dry aged NY strip steak, mushroom spatzle, and josper roasted carrots. Each dish was as fabulous as the next! We were seated upstairs for the first time. While not as elegant as the downstairs dining area, it was quieter and the service was as impeccable as ever!
Service and food was excellent. Choosing your own steak knife felt like selecting your own wand. Everything was great with the exception of the booth seat which unfortunately wasn't very comfortable. It could use some maintenance.

Spent a lot of money for a birthday, but the wagyu ribeye was probably the best thing I have ever eaten. The Somm was helpful and brought out a few options for bottles that we ended up picking one we hadn't seen, and the bread and butter was unreal.
Really nice vibe and atmosphere — definitely a cool spot. The food was solid, but I expected a little more creativity and punch for the price, especially from a Michelin-star restaurant. Still, a good experience overall.
We had the 30 day dry aged Ribeye, scallops with the duck fat potatoes along with several specialty cocktails and all were excellent. Service was exceptional. Would definitely go back when return to stay in Hollywood
Had a terrible experience at Gwen. I'm surprised that it still has a Michelin star. They put us at a tiny table upstairs, where it was dark and very stuffy. It was hard to avoid bumping into the people at the tables on either side of us because the tables were crammed so close together. The waitress was socializing with the bartender most of the time and barely bothered to talk to us. I thought the meat dishes would be standouts given the restaurant's reputation, but the beef was rubbery and hard to cut. Downstairs didn't look much better - the whole place gave the feel of a rundown Hollywood cafeteria.
Love Gwen, been multiple times. Service was great but F&B seemed off. Ordered two steaks, strip came out undercooked. Small plates lacked flavor and cocktails were meh, wine was delicious!
