Their bathroom is extremely dirty. Food is ok. Service is ok. It's fun for the kids. But they gotta clean the bathroom
Always a great place for special occasions and family. Great food fair prices and great service.
Possibly the best flavour of any food I’ve ever eaten. Service was excellent. Ambience is comparable to any bar/restaurant. You’ve gotta try this place!

We made a reservation for the afternoon on Oct 11, 2025. It was for four ppl. Despite having made a reservation, we still had to wait over 10 mins to be seated, only because there was no hostess and no one came to the stand for 10+ minutes.
Without introducing herself or letting us know know she would ‘be taking care of us,’ Gwen??’ Took our order… we waited patiently and didn’t see her for a long time. We had ordered rice and the meat had come out, but no rice. We had to ask two different ppl for the rice before we received it.
Not only that, we had ordered the Hirami in a pot - which is our FAVORITE - but it never came…. Despite the table next to us getting TWO orders of it while we had our appetizers. Gwen came by and asked if we still wanted it. We were all pissed and said no. It’s extremely hard to get all of us upset, but she managed to do so.
It is clear to me that the place is super understaffed and space is limited… but knowing how many reservations you have should give you an idea of how many walk ups you can take.
This is the WORST service we have ever received at any Gyu kaku.
Your only saving grace was Cristian who had a positive, bubbly attitude all the time and would try to help us as much as possible; but he was not a waiter. He completely went above and beyond and should be commended for keeping a smile on his face, being cheerful, and checking on us… more than our waitress did.
Gwen was not cheerful, welcoming, cordial, or personable AT ALL. If that’s the vibe y'all are going for, you’re succeeding at it. We usually spend $75+ here. This is the first time we have spend less than $50 a person, declined more alcoholic beverages AND declined more food. Only because we wanted to get out of there. So sad.

Gyu-Kaku is a Japanese BBQ franchise. I am from Japan and tried this location for the first time today. Frankly speaking, I was very disappointed. Compared to one in Japan, quality was much lower, hospitality was not good, and the price was three times higher. What they show on their menu was not delivered to me; what I got was very unprofessionally sliced junk. This one is located in the U.S., so I tried my best to be mentally prepared, but still I was horrified. I would never come back to this “Japanese“ BBQ place. I should have stuck to KBBQ in LA.

Overall, an enjoyable dining experience. Friendly greeting, sat quickly. Servers worked together beautifully as a team to bring out meats, sides and attend to our table frequently throughout our meal. The food was fresh and delicious. The only drawback is that it is a tad on the expensive side, even during happy hour (which offers $1 off select meats and sides.) However, the experience was enjoyable. The restaurant is showing a bit of wear and tear, some minor upkeep is recommended. Parking can be a bit challenging; limited street parking (meters until 6pm most days) are the best option. Pro Hack: Sign up for their rewards program for nice discounts off of your dining experiences.
We hadn't been to Gyu in awhile, and particularly this location since they got rid of the adjacent small parking lot. So we made a audible call to have a last minute lunch date reservation thru OpenTable for 3. The servers and staff were ultra friendly during the lunch hour. Food was delivered quickly and well prepared. My rice wasn't cooked entirely, but i did not let that ruin all my other food, which was great and delicious. My family loves this restaurant chain, and this location was awesome on this day. Kudos!
We love Gyu-Kaku!! Service is always top notch! Last night they were on fire! Our order was out before we even finished placing our order! They are in our top 10 favorites
Dirty, disgusting, crap food. If you're in restaurant business in West LA and this is the level of cleanness in your guest area, what the hell goes on in your kitchen?

I went for the first time and absolutely loved it! We got a combo for 6 people (even though we were only five), and it was more than enough — the food just kept coming! We even had leftovers to take home. It cost $270 total for 5 people, including food and beers, and it was totally worth it for the amount and quality.
You cook everything yourself, which makes it such a fun and interactive experience. They offer all kinds of meat cuts — my favorites were the skirt steak and brisket. Also giving 5 stars to the fried rice with onions and beef — sooo perfect. Definitely a must-try!
I’ll for sure go back soon and bring more friends and family. It’s the perfect spot for big groups.
Only downside is you leave a bit sticky from the smoke, but honestly, no big deal. Bonus: they have an app you can download to earn points and get free food on future visits.
Can’t believe I didn’t know about this place before, easily one of the best spots I’ve found lately!
