Second time coming and got their og menu. Truly one of the best Korean tapas/fusion places I've been. Great food (bit smaller on the portion sizes) and value. We got 3 entrees and 2 desserts and it was just the right amount of food for 2. Would recommend coming a bit earlier since there is usually a bit of a wait and the general restaurant has a pretty small area but very cozy. Good place for night out with friends or date!
My friend wanted to try Hanchic for Dine LA, so we made a reservation for 5:30PM on a Sunday. The restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall, and actually quite small with just a handful of tables. The decorations are super hip though.Service was attentive and solid during the meal. We opted for the $80 for 2 Dine LA meal, which came with 5 dishes to share + your choice of beverage (including alcoholic beverage options). The dishes were creative modern Korean fusion. I felt like the bulgogi risotto was a bit too sweet for my tastes, and the Korean pancake while crisp was rather small in portion. The buns were tasty although I would have preferred a warm bun. The tomato appetizer with burrata and picked daikon was an interesting mix of flavors. Finally, the galbi jjim was flavorful with tender meat and unique sauces, and they were happy to provide extra lettuce upon request.Overall, a nice experience, though be forewarned that the restaurant and portion sizes are petite!
Amazing little Korean wine bar in a part of Ktown that I've never visited before. Everything on the menu here is fusion and they do one hell of a job thinking of the recipes and creating dishes that wow your mouth and mind. The servers are respectful and courteous to your needs and questions. They'll answer everything you ask and suggest dishes if it's your very first time. My friend and I decided to try a few and share since it was our firs time and we loved every single one. However, looking back at it, we would skip on the Bolognese Dumplings (I believe); I ate here back in May. Nothing against the dish but I think we both agreed we could've ordered something different than that dish. I also appreciate the fact they give you testers on their alcohol if you're not sold on the name. Though some are not cheap if you're on a budget but at least you get a preview of what you'll order if you're going to spend +$30 on a bottle. The one we tested went down smooth and tasted amazing. So much in fact that we wanted to buy our own at a wine shop in DTLA but was unfortunately closed by the time we finished our meal. I'll definitely come back for more because the food is to die for.
It's approachable, it's reasonably priced, it's different, but still familiar.Props to the effort and work Chef Min and his team have put in day and night ! I was pleasantly surprised with the mix of flavors and Korean influences in all the dishes we ordered. When you want Korean classics you go to the tried and true Ktown spots. At Hanchic you kinda know the dish and you see the flavor flairs and you go, "Oh, that's interesting...." And interesting then leads to, "Oh, that's great!"This casual+ spot is fairly intimate and offers a solid list of whites, reds, and orange wines as well as some canned beers, cocktails, and bottles of great craft soju. A great place for a date or small group of friends to get together.A am looking forward to the next warm welcome from Min and his new pocha/street food inspired menu.
An absolutely standout restaurant. So incredibly delicious. Fun Korean fusion restaurant. Plates are on the smaller side but priced very reasonably for the quality and taste. Four dishes split between two people was enough and made it possible to try all the different flavors. The galbi jjim and risotto were especially delicious. Very cool and trendy interior. Slightly on the smaller side. Making reservations is probably best
Love the food in this small restaurant serving modern Korean fare. Chef Justin Min recently changed the menu so it’s less the Korean Italian fusion he originally offered. The boolgogi risotto, dweji dubbap and galbi jjim are absolute must haves. His take on shrimp toast includes tuna. The pork hoppang is melt in the mouth and spicy delicious. I was looking forward to his black sesame panna cotta but he didn’t have any last night. The food is exciting and I’m looking forward to trying other dishes.
Loved this place! It was my first time and I live very close so I can go walking. It was really a finding! I got the ramen, the broth is light but super flavorful and the oxtail was very tender. The portion is great too. Also the customer service is great! Super polite and attentive. Always coming to the table asking if it’s all good. And the check comes in a very cute book.In short, they really pay attention to details. I really recommend!
Came here with a reservation on Friday and got seated immediately! This place is super cute and super new.Good:I really liked the bulgogi risotto and the tteoki mac n cheese because it was just super unique and tasty. The risotto had a great amount of flavor and portion size. The oxtail ramen was tasty too and had a lot of food. The dishes here are all pretty small so it’s good to share!Bad:I wasn’t as big of a fan of the pork belly buns since they had a bit too much spice and not enough flavor for me.Overall would come again since the service was really nice too!
A nice find in LA. Located inside a strip mall, this restaurant serves Korean-Italian fusion dishes that blow the mind of your tastebuds. They also serve regular Korean dishes such as 갈비찜 (Marinated braised beef rib), 치즈 떡볶이 (Cheese on rice cakes), Korean fried chicken. But, try the crazy fusion dishes first!Only downside is you’re required to use the valet for parking, if parking inside the strip mall. I didn’t find out until I had to go back to the car to get something. $3 for parking there whether or not you have them park your car for you. Oh well.Regardless of that surprise info, try the food!4.5 stars!
Tteok n cheese, bulgogi risotto, fried chicken. Plates to drool for. But lots of flies indoors? Otherwise will come back again and again.

Really unique flavors in both their main courses and desserts. Especially recommend their bap.
Have been wanting to try this place after seeing very inviting reviews - No Regrets! Food is extraordinary! Ordered the Oxy Ramen, very impressed with the flavor and the meat melts in your mouth. Looking forward to trying more on their menu. Friendly people, they take time to explain what is available, made me feel at home and welcomed.
Ok. I didn’t really know what to expect from Hanchic. I actually didn’t know that we were going to what I’m assuming is a Korean Gastropub in Los Angeles’ #KoreaTown. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. So I was told that the food was elevated Korean food. Not really sure what that means. But what We got at Hanchic was definitely worth the trip. I still don’t know if it would classify as Korean food, but whatever it was it was quite tasty. The flavors burst in your mouth and seasoning and the tenderness of the meat were incredible. There were a couple of dishes that I think really stood out. The braise oxtail which wrap in lettuce and other veggies and dip into different sauces was really tasty. There was also an oxtail soup with noodles which was also tasty and comforting. The fried wings were OK but it came with fried mung beans pancake looking things that was actually pretty damn good. The staff was very attentive and you were doing so this place is definitely worth a visit
Love everything we got. From the umami rice, to the bulgogi risotto. If we live here we would've gone here so often. Definitely recommend it!
Spicy pork hoppang is must!
