Waiting 40 minutes and counting for a simple lunch combo. The wait and horrible service are not worth the quality of food. Avoid this place.

I always visit this spot due to their seasonal dish and selection.

alway's a long wait. reason why i didn't give 5 star is due to their lack of system on order's meaning you wont know when your food is ready you have to stand there and wait for number calling. can wait for 30+ minute's sometimes that's the only issue i dont like other then that is a great spot for tempura

I’ve been dining at this restaurant for nearly ten years and usually enjoy the food, but today’s experience was disappointing. The batter was thicker and over-fried, one of the shrimp had a fishy taste, the soy sauce was a bit too light, and the rice was wetter and stickier than expected. Overall, it didn’t quite have the authentic Japanese touch this time.

I've been eating at this place for about 12 years. The quality of the food is going downhill fast the last three visit ... I don't know if the owner had changed.

I love this little market and the 5 little Japanese eateries within! Hannosuke is my favorite! Fish tendon plate comes with fish tempura, shrimp tempura, squash, and soft-boiled egg, shishito pepper, seaweed, all on rice, miso soup, and dipping sauces! So good! I wish they were on Instacart! I want some Now!

I love that there is one nearby in Mar Vista.

This Hannosuke is located in the food court of Mitsuwa Japanese grocery.

I had the Shrimp Tendon for $16.48. There are 4 shrimp tempura, soft boiled egg, seaweeds, pumpkin and pepper on top of the rice.

Hannosuke in Mitsuwa Santa Monica is a haven for tempura and soba enthusiasts. Their tempura is a masterclass in Japanese culinary artistry—light, crispy, and perfectly golden. Each piece, from shrimp to vegetables, is fried to perfection, maintaining a delicate balance of texture and flavor. The tempura egg, with its soft, runny yolk encased in a soft shell, is a standout that elevates the meal to a whole new level.

Pairing the tempura with their soba noodles is a match made in heaven. The soba is served chilled with a dipping sauce or hot in a comforting broth, offering a versatile and satisfying complement to the tempura. The noodles are cooked to the ideal firmness, showcasing the restaurant's dedication to authenticity and quality.

Good tempura!

The food was average, not particularly impressive. The tempura lacked crunch and was soggy, with some vegetables overcooked—nothing you couldn’t easily make at home.

Service was disappointing. I wasn’t informed that the shiso tempura (listed on the menu) wasn’t available until after I ordered, and there was no apology offered. The cashier mentioned nori tempura as a replacement, but the lack of communication was frustrating. There was also a long wait despite the place not being busy, and no free water was provided.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time I’ve had a subpar experience here.

Motsu King (Motsuking)

A chain of popular Japanese tendon restaurants
The main store was delicious, but I thought this one was salty.
However, it is popular because the seasoning is tailored to the region.
You can also be satisfied with the volume.
It's not very useful as a comparison with Japan.

This place tastes great and the price is cheap, but I don't know why the reviews are so bad~~ It feels a bit like a food code.

Tempura is good. Knowing it's hard to find a nice/decent Tempura place around, this place is above par and nice. FYI - Atmosphere is market food court settings.
