Elijah was our waiter tonight & he provided EXCELLENT customer service. He brought every condiment, lemon, etc that we asked for. He checked in on us and made our dining experience a pleasure.
The Shrimp Po-Boy was a HIT. The crab cakes were crispy & seasoned. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and flavorful. We’re so happy we came to celebrate our anniversary at Harold & Belle’s as second-gen LA Natives.
Happy New Year!

I tried to get a reservation for a party of 11. Restaurant required that I pay 50% of bill to reserve a table. The Restaurant then required that the group chose from one of their family style menus. The Restaurant chose the food for family style menus: which meant you had to eat what they choose. 1st family style menu $ 30:00 per person 2nd family style menu $45:00 per person 3rd family style menu $50:00 per person. Then if you wanted a drink $3.00 per person desert $4:00 per person. Check would include sales tax and a 25% gratuity. We should be able to chose our own meals individually not have our meals chosen for us. As far as the mandatory gratuity, their job is to serve. We've been to Harold and Belles before with large party before and none of these requirements were in place. Not use to being told how to spend my money and what to eat.
I ordered the fry chicken, it was cooked a little too hard for me. Then I reorder the winglets and they were pretty good.

How things have changed. We were going here after the pool hall remodel. Good portions and food was seasoned. Guess it's just a nostalgia thing now. Prime time on a weekend night. Hardly no one was there. Service was horrible. One mix up after another. The place was not even at half capacity to bumble so much. The blackened pork chops were bland and dry. The mash potatoes lacked any seasoning. The shrimp scampi recipe has changed for the worst. With an excessive amount of mediocre sauce. Just a little scoop of rice, no longer on a bed of rice. The jambalaya was not the seasoned red liquid filled with plenty of meat style. The bowl was filled with a dry version and red colored rice. The manager tried to step up to the plate and correct things, but struck out. Did mention on the way in, it was the wife's birthday. Guess they dont recognize those anymore. No big deal on that request, we made up for it later. On the way out, the hostess asked how was everything. I said "we were VERY disappointed". Her reply was , oh well. Turned and disappeared into yhe back. The place is rather pricey. They do offer a full bar. Public restrooms are available. Waiting area has a bench for 4 people. The surrounding area is not the friendliest . The nostalgia has faded and gone. Oh Well !!!
Parking: Street parking is bad. Lot is for valet only. 1 handicap parking space.
Kid-friendliness: Nit really
Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp type entry

AMAZING FOOD AND EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!
It’s been years since I been to H&B and let me tell you, WOW!! What an experience I was in the neighborhood after attending a funeral. Our first interaction was with the hostess Taylor over the phone then once we arrived greeted us with the warmest welcome, you will fall in love with her beautiful spirit, even saw her helping out the servers when it was busy, such a beautiful soul. PJ was our server completely on top of everything and during a lunch rush that was impressive. Food was delicious our party got the seafood platter, catfish and shrimp dinner worth every penny. I have to say the entire staff was great. They also have a lovely room and space for parties which I’ll be using thank you Jessica . If you’re in the neighborhood please stop by you will not be disappointed.

I hadn't been here in a while, but at my mom's suggestion, we made dinner reservations and went. The food was GREAT! I barely had time to take pictures because everyone at our table started eating. It was pretty and fresh, and flavorful, and filling. Our server was sweet and attentive. Everyone was so nice. And my mom said the food was the way she remembered- that's why she wanted it. We will definitely
be coming back!

A real review,
Not one dish I’ve had here was “good”. Everything and I mean everything, is pretty mediocre. And it makes sense why the clientele who enjoy the food is mostly older ppl—Older people taste buds dwindle as they get older and they only want bland foods so this is the go to spot for that.
For anybody else, I literally do not get the hype at all.
The atmosphere is cool sometimes bc all the local people who circulate the local black owned bars also come here sometimes; But besides that? It’s not worth the money. For the cost of the food, the lack of flavor is just not worth it.
The best thing here is the drinks and house salad.
If you’re looking to be satisfied, Please Save yourself a trip.
The fried chicken is disgusting- it’s bland. It’s soggy. It is quite literally freezer bag chicken dropped in the fryer. What black owned restaurant doesn’t batter and fry they own chicken?
The jambalaya is dry and the peas in it always throw me off.
The gumbo is savory but let’s be real yall, it is bland and underwhelming. That parsley they throw ontop of it must not be doing its job.
If you’re looking for New Orleans in here you not gonna find it. It’s literally Just a sad shell of it.
The salads, catfish nuggets, fried shrimp, and Poboys is about the only thing that’s edible to me.
the blue cheese dressing is great.
The staff is warm and friendly.
They have valet service bc street parking in the residential blocks in the surrounding area can be horrible.

Well, I went to an event where Harold and Belle’s catered and it was an experience. When I say experience I unfortunately mean a negative one. I have attached a picture of what is said to be spinach but instead I was met with green slime. A fellow colleague described it as a mucus membrane. Some of the other food was not very well seasoned and the peach cobbler was too sweet. The only thing I liked was the boiled corn and the Mac n cheese though they are not worth your trip. I have nothing against this restaurant but I was hungry and am still hungry. I speak on an empty stomach however perhaps we just got a bad batch.
