I grabbed a couple of entrees for my friends and me before a matinee at the Pantages, and I was too excited to even take pictures of the food—something that rarely happens! But let me tell you, this place is a hidden gem. The service was quick, the chicken was incredibly tender, the garlicky rice was full of flavor, and the portions were huge. We’ve been to Savoy many times, but my friend said, ‘This is the best Hainan chicken rice I’ve ever had.’ Heng Heng is definitely a must-visit whenever I’m in town!

I was extremely hungry and had seen this spot on my way to Ralph’s.
This is one of those locals love it type of spots. The traffic was very steady and the staff seem to know everyone coming in to order.
The entire staff here were super friendly and polite. They don’t mind helping you with the menu if it’s your first time.
The Garlic Noodle w/ Crispy Chicken meal was my favorite. Although the Hainan chicken rice is really good, I wouldn’t go back for it.
You have to try the Garlic Noodle w/ Crispy Chicken. I assure you that you won’t be disappointed.
The Panda tea has a unique taste but I liked it a lot.
I would highly recommend a stop to this spot.

Thai town staple — this place is so good! You can’t go wrong with anything you get here, but if you aren’t coming for the crispy chicken, hainan chicken or zaab dishes then what are you doing?
The restaurant itself is pretty small, but the staff working are very friendly and attentive, and the meals come out quickly. Don’t forget to mix in some ginger and chilies into the dipping sauce! I love this restaurant so much, easy 9/10.
Parking: Usually a decent amount of spots on Hollywood

Very large portion,
A girl shouldn't be able to eat such a big meal by herself.
If you mind, two people can eat together.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Dixie Hollywood Hotel for the second time. Despite the hotel being a bit outdated, the location was fantastic, and the room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly, making it a good option for a budget stay in Hollywood.
During my visit, I also discovered Heng Heng Chicken Rice, which felt like a hidden gem for true chicken rice lovers. The dish truly impressed me with its incredibly tender and juicy chicken. The rice was perfectly cooked and tasted similar to what I had in Bangkok. The service was fast, and although it’s not a fancy place, it’s the kind of spot you’d keep coming back to for satisfying comfort food. This was one of the best chicken rice experiences I’ve had in a while.

I had a lovely stay at the Dixie Hollywood Hotel. The location made it super easy to explore the area, and I found the bed to be really comfortable. While some parts of the hotel felt a little outdated, the staff was friendly and helpful, making my stay feel welcoming. Overall, it offered great value for the price!
Just next to the hotel, I discovered Heng Heng Chicken Rice, and what a treat that was! The restaurant has a relaxed and inviting vibe that sets the perfect tone for a satisfying meal. The chicken was definitely the star the highlight—tender and packed with flavor.
The rice was another standout, making it a perfect match for the juicy chicken. The combination of the two made each bite a delight. Additionally, the service was very attentive. If you’re in the mood for a delicious bowl of chicken rice, Heng Heng is definitely worth a visit!

For years, I've been on the hunt for a chicken rice spot in the States that serves up a perfect combination of half dark meat and half fried chicken. My search finally ended when I discovered "Heng Heng Chicken Rice" and let me tell you, it was nothing short of extraordinary. The chicken was tender, juicy, and crispy in all the right places. But the real highlight of this place is the garlicky rice. It definitely tasted like what I used to have in Bangkok. Trust me, this place is a game-changer! From the moment you step inside, the aroma of flavorful herbs and spices fills the air, setting the stage for a culinary adventure like no other. The service is very attentive, and the ambiance is cozy and inviting. If you're on the lookout for a dining experience "Heng Heng Chicken Rice" is the place to be!

Amazing food
Located right in the heart of Thai town is this cute unassuming restaurant that’s serves up a delicious comfort meal.
Tried the steamed chicken (both dark and white) and one of our plates was half pork belly. The chicken itself doesn’t have a ton of flavor but it’s just steamed so you don’t expect it too. However, as a whole meal, everything else makes up for it starting with the amazingly fragrant garlic rice. I could eat that just by itself.
There are multiple sauce options that you could tweak by adding more chili or ginger to it. They elevate the chicken and rice to an entirely different level. The dish also comes with a super peppery warm broth.
My fave though was the crispy pork belly. It was perfectly crisp without being oily or too fatty. Paired really well with the rice, broth, and sauces.
Overall just feels like a very comforting, almost home cooked meal and service was super friendly even though we were one of the last tables there.

Coming fm Singapore Malaysia and Brunei … chicken rice is a dish much sought after and not easy to find one that replicates the taste for the various versions of the hainanese chicken rice. Still looking for the grilled version of the hainanese chicken rice.
