Delicious. Flavorful. Friendly. We counted on Happy Cow to point us in the right direction and you/they did it again! Surprisingly wonderful!

Tasty, authentic spot for flavorful lunch after the Getty. The pumpkin seed dip really kicked it off! Loved the Yucatán flavors and appreciated the generous portion size of burrito. Added perk: supporting small business vegan owner.

Yummm. Hijo De Su Madre has the highest rating out of any vegan restaurant within 20 miles of LA, and I see why. It's definitely worth coming out of your way for if you love vegan businesses. I tried the Yucatan sampler platter, and everything was delicious. What really stood out to me was the Longaniza con Papa taco, which is among the most satisfying tacos I've ever had. The potatoes on it were perfect. Another highlight was the pumpkin seed dip. The quality of all the ingredients is great. And if you love a light dessert, try the Crema De Coco. It's not too sweet, the fruit on top is super fresh, and the consistency of the custard is really enjoyable. Plus, the service here is amazing. And the food was ready very quickly. So if you're reading this, definitely come eat here! Updated from previous review on 2025-04-04

Flavorful pepita dip! Loved the Ensalada Rusa Tostada (salad made of: roasted mushroom, pickled jalapeño & onion, peas, carrots. Potatoes), too! If you’re on a specific diet, you could order that salad and put it your own butter lettuce leaves. Very kind and patient service!

This place gets a perfect ten! The food is amazing, unique, flavorful and healthy..and entirely vegan. They feature Yucatecan recipes you will not find in many places. The owner is friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. It is a small place with just a few tables.

Dietary restrictions: All vegan.

I saw the reviews for Hijo de su Madre and I was a curious and had to try it. I ordered a longaniza con papa burrito and water melon juice (today’s aqua Fresca option) and really blown away by the flavor for both. The workers provide great service and checked in on me multiple times. The meal was also reasonably priced as well and parking in the shopping center is convenient. I would highly recommend!

Owner was really kind, conversational, and hooked me up with a free cookie and a refill on their amazing agua Frescas. Very good flavors and presentation. Decent price too 👍 Updated from previous review on 2025-02-20

Our absolute favorite place to eat out. Chef Greg has ingeniously 'veganized' authentic Yucatecan specialties such as Longaniza sausage and Conchinita Pibil (uses jackfruit instead of pork) while maintaining all the flavor and punch of the originals. Everything is made from scratch. Don't miss the El Yucateco taco made with 'meaty' Trumpet mushrooms, and grab one of their house made desserts or smoothies. Everything is vegan and many of the dishes are gluten and nut free, so those with restricted diets can dine without worry.

I visited Hijo de su Madre restaurant after a long meeting and had a pretty good experience overall. I ordered the cochinita burrito, esquite, and chips with salsa. The esquite was quite good, and the chips and salsa were great.

The burrito, though, felt a little under-seasoned and lacked that complexity and freshness I expect from Mexican food. The sauce provided helped, but once it was gone, the burrito felt a bit underwhelming.

That said, the restaurant itself was clean, the staff was friendly and attentive, and there was plenty of space to sit and enjoy the meal. The bathroom was available and well-kept, which was nice. I’d definitely come back to try other dishes and see what else they have to offer. Supporting vegan restaurants is something I love, and I can see this place continuing to grow with just a little improvement in the seasoning of some dishes.

I thought the food was okay. I think maybe I got the wrong thing, like they might have something better. The drink I had was good. Definitely a bit pricy. I also thought the menu was a bit confusing. The lady at the front was helpful.
