Cute, interesting place shaped like a whiskey barrel. Street parking. I liked the "old fashioned" that they served. Reasonably priced. The food tasted good.

Happy hour from 3 to 6 pm, we had collins, make a mule with tequila and tequila with soda. Great atmosphere & design with decent options during the happy hour with outdoor heaters

Hip spot within unique barrel building. Most seating is outside.

Barrel Hamburger is good. Bit pricy but you get to eat inside a barrel or in their pleasant patio. Exercise in programmatic architecture

The vibes are immaculate! Such a fun place to go for a night out. We were smitten with the quirky architecture, loved that the staff were casually wearing elf ears, and the food and drinks were wonderful. I look forward to the next time I can go.

Craft cocktails in a quirky, esoteric locale with neighborhood vibe. Good beer selection, strong mocktail options way beyond the norm and a pub grub kitchen I'll have to go back for.

Nice atmosphere and good food.
Writing a review specifically for our super awesome server Chad! Literally the nicest man ever and went above and beyond to make my wife and I have a great time. He treated us to dessert and a cocktail just because. So sweet and we will definitely be back thanks to his positive energy ✨

Have you ever wanted to eat brunch inside a giant barrel? Do you enjoy eating eggs and day drinking under the watchful scrutiny of an enormous bulldog who it smoking a pipe but somehow still managed to look absolutely SCANDALIZED about your life choices? Do your life choices include Bottoms Drag Brunch with Lauren Banall? Well, them have I got the place for you?
As the decor and website will be quick to inform you, Idle Hour is a relic of the early Los Angeles car culture of the post-war era, and is worth the trip for the novelty alone. The staff and management are delightfully friendly and welcoming. There is a patio space in both the front (sunny, no bulldog) and in back (shady, bulldog). If you go there for Drag Brunch, like we did, (highly recommend) you'll get to enjoy the back patio.
In truth, my memory of the food is overshadowed by the entertainment, because it's hard to focus on both the subtleties of eggs shakshuka when trying to enthusiastically fling one dollar bills at equally enthusiastic purveyors of fabulousness, but I recall enjoying it. Also enjoyed a Drunken Elephant Theory, which is a cocktail involving coffee and a skewered luxardo cherry. My companion had a spicy margarita, which was also good but doesn't pair well with a drunken elephant.
The entertainment was, unsurprisingly, was the star of the show. Four fabulous lip syncing and dancing queens of drag in multiple wonderful lewks, with comfortable levels of audience engagement, even for someone like me who mostly just prefers to smile and clap along like Snow White with her forest friends. Bucket list item accomplished. Would go again, would recommend to a friend.
My only criticism would be the sound level and acoustics: music would have been painfully loud without earplugs. Partly, this is a factor of the building itself being all hard surfaces: even once the music was done and I'd taken the earplugs out it was difficult to hear my companion directly across from me due to echoes from other tables. So, if you're sensitive to noise or have sound processing issues, plan to bring and wear earplugs for better enjoyment.
Parking: Most parking in the area is 2hr but drag brunch is not like 4 hours so it may be necessary to re park

It was bigger on the inside than expected and extends again to the outside. There are more people and it was busier inside than I expected. They have trivia nights on Tuesday nights.

The beer was warm. The food was sub-par bar food. Cisco truck food cooked. No passion or heart. Ranch dressing was horrible. And the beer was warm... Just not an experience worth paying for.
