Dining for one at Izakaya Dongame, new store in the neighborhood n got their signature Pork & Veggies Okonomiyaki- Osaka style, light n delicious with every bite. I like their service’s recommendations on their crispy rice with spicy tuna on top n a helping of deep fried takoyaki, warm miso soup, and a side of onigiri. Their sushi dog, spicy tuna & sushi ginger was small, yet packed immense flavor. To pair it up with shochu with ginger ale highlighted my night.
I was excited for it to finally open after seeing the sign in the window for so long.
I went with a few friends to try it. We ordered the 7 types assorted yakitori, potato salad, agedashi tofu, and Osaka-style okonomiyaki. A bit overpriced, out of everything we got, the grilled mackerel was the tastiest and the only thing we’d order again — the $3.99 beer and sake is ONLY FOR THE FIRST ROUND.
Apparently Dongame is chain in Japan, but I’m not sure it will thrive here with the array of other options in yakitori, sushi, and other Japanese cuisine.
