Best pork chop I've ever had. Japanese yam special side was delicious. Brussel sprouts weee forgettable. Vibe was great but it was super noisy.

Fantastic food. Great service. We were there on a Saturday night and food took a little while to come out. But worth it. Quite a sneakily loud dining room, be prepared to shout at your dinner mate.

The service is good and the staff is friendly, but food has been hit and miss for my last several visits. I have been dining at Jar for years and the food has always been very consistent but that has not been the case lately. Meat has come out at temperatures different form my order and the quality varies.

“Jar” seems to cater to a 18-28 crowd. The noise level was horrifically loud. We were four people at a rectangular table against a wall and we practically had to yell to be heard. The steak entrees were excellent, tender and tasty. (But all of us had to send them back to the kitchen— we ordered medium rare & medium — because they all were cooked rare.) The “sides” were good but practically all carbohydrates; out of ten options, seven were carbs. The bread was dry and tasteless. We won't be going back.

I have been to Jar many times over the years, I expected the $$$$ but also expected a meal worth it. I had what was supposed to be a 17oz Ribeye steak. It was very thin to much fat to meat ratio and was more similar to a steak you would expect at Norms for $9.95. Very disappointed as Jar had always been one of my favorites.

I've been here many times, and this is arguably my favorite restaurant. But a number of things added up to a lesser value experience. Having a reservation well in advance and yet coming there and having to wait, and then ultimately to be seated in a side area that had had two open tables from the time we walked in. Unnecessary delay. Lots of delays with getting initial water, initial drinks, and just long wait times for everything. Portions were smaller this time. Side orders are all a cart which has always added to expense. Salad was a very small portion and not suitable to share. Pot roast is a cheap cut of meat and yet the portion was still small. Cocktails were good. Noise level is always high. But it was $372, for two people, with tip, having had two cocktails, two glasses of wine, one salad, two entrées, two sides, and one dessert. That's over $180 per person.. There are a lot of restaurants that have more luxurious food and service for that. No longer one of my favorites just because of the poor value overall, slow service, and just overpriced food.

Absolutely a delicious meal... I would not call this a romantic spot due to its very energetic atmosphere and noise level... again, if its great food your after, this will do and yes, it is expensive but well worth it for this kind of high end food. Its a very special occasion restaurant.

Not special in any way. A mixed menu with no focus or style. Had squash blossom starter and potato chip house specialty but underwhelmed despite well prepared. Had the 12oz ribeye. Cooked perfectly to med rare but was thin and the absence of a bone seemed like some zing was missing; it was good, just not great. The sides were good, creamed spinach and really loved the duck fried rice, actually my favorite item of the meal. Good wine list. Terrible dessert options: all squishy puddings or soft baby food type items. That was disappointing. Good service. Very noisy and not a pleasant place to have an intimate convo...just too loud with little noise dampening features. Bare decor. Restroom could definitely use some attention; might have been fresh at some point, but not when I visited. Not a good look. Probably would not go back given the many other options in LA, especially for steak, but was an OK try.

Tonight was our second time visiting Jar for dinner and it did not disappoint. I’m so glad upscale dining still exists in LA. It’s refreshing to be in a restaurant where you can hear each other speak and not have to fight with the music. The meal was so good, I want to try and make it a point to visit more often. I started with the Lychee martini, and the arugula salad. But the star of the evening was the ribeye cooked to perfection and the purple yams. Combined with the pea tendrils, the meal was spectacular.

I took someone very special to me to Jar for the very first time and I say that she and I had an incredible evening. The ambiance was amazing, the staff was welcoming and hospitable. And the food was exceptional per usual. My girlfriend now understands why I love this place so much and we will be returning often.

Our favorite steakhouse restaurant. We’ve had a lot of dinners in this town and nothing comes close to the coziness and deliciousness of this place. Servers are top notch, and the food they serve us is outta this world. I disliked all chocolate desserts until I popped my cherry with their CHOCOLATE PUDDING. Totally recommend. Enjoy!

Lovely as always but very very noisy. Service was good, food was good, one or 2 items a little less than usual, I think because it was so busy!

It's lost something. The last time i went i felt it too. This reinforced that maybe i need a new spot.

for what they charge, the food has to be better than it is, way better. $20 for seasoned fries, these aren't even the third best fries i've eaten. $23 for clam chowder, um no sorry. ya these are just the sides/starters, but the mains didn't knock me over either. i get it, running a fine dining establishment is expensive, but jar is phoning it in at this point. there are way better options, and by better i mean exciting, surprising and daring, for the money. service was great tho.
