I was in Santa Monica yesterday morning in line to eat at another restaurant. It was already lunch time. But I wanted breakfast food. I asked the people in line if that restaurant served French Toast for breakfast. A very nice young woman with a cute dog said "go to John O'Groats" if you want a traditional French Toast Breakfast. I followed her advice and drove out to John O'Groats. I am so glad that I did. This place is a tradition diner with a lot of charm. The French Toast was great. As was the coffee. The service was good. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I will definitely be returning to this location with friends. This is a great place to have lunch or dinner. Before I drove out there, I called. I got an outgoing voice message. I left a message in which I said that I had wished that someone had answered the phone. I just wanted to know if they are still serving breakfast. When I arrived, the proprietor said to me "You called didn't you?" I answered in the affirmative. He responded "We have breakfast all day every day!" I wish I had taken down the name and contact information of the woman who recommended John O'Groats. I would have enjoyed sharing my experience with her.

Very average, nothing crazy here everything was all right, not sure if I'll be back or not again everything was just pretty much middle of the road

Amazing spot for some classic breakfast food that you won't find at a lot of LA brunch spots. The differentiator is that a lot of the food here are classics, and not innovative like a lot of LA places. We got the Grandma Omlette and The fried chicken. The biscuit that the omlette came with heavenly. With butter and jam it was amazing. The coffee latte was solid, not the best but still good enough. The fried chicken was great as well. It was insanely hot inside and crispy on the outside. Super different from other fried chickens I've tried. The fries and potato's were super good.

O'groats is the GOAT of westside for breakfast or brunch. I've been fortunate to be coming here for 30+ years and Paul and his family are the best

I absolutely love eating at John O'Groats! It's always packed on weekends so put on your walking shoes because parking is challenging but it's worth the walk. They have amazing breakfast, the kind you love to eat but don't want to make at home. This is a favorite place for breakfast on the West side.

Oh my goodness we went here for the first time today and I'm so happy we did! I love this place! The owners, Mother and Son were so sweet and very friendly! All the staff and patrons were very nice. It felt cozy and the owners made us feel like family. We can't wait to go back! Oh and the food and shortbread were delicious! I got the fish tacos and my mom got the chicken! 5 Stars!Kid-friendliness: Kids menu and crayons!Wheelchair accessibility: Very kind accommodating to wheelchair users!

If you're on the west side, this is a good gluten free option for people who like sweet breakfasts like me.
