I was just passing through LA to switch Amtrak routes and was delighted to find Juanitas Cafe on Olvera Street. A simple but delicious place to get a hearty torta de choriza with champurrado. So convenient to Union Station but not a bland chain eatery. The owner prepares the food as his grandmother, Juanita, did.

I’ve had the Torta and the tacos which are tasty and delicious. I really love the chopped onions with tomatoes and diced serrano topping on the tacos.

I have been coming here as a baby , kid, young adult , teenager on the way to Dodger games, an adult and now a grandfather. From Long Beach, Huntington Beach and the last three years from Genoa Nevada. Incredible…the flavor like no other , the taquitos have no equal Juanita’s avocado sauce is the hidden secret! Edward and his crew are the best people you can ever meet. My mouth waters at the aroma… we always get a variety of plates and a couple of dozen taquitos to go….really.

Wonderful authentic meal while shopping at the market. Taquitos come with beans and a small salad and the green chili sauce is awesome.

This place is so god damn good. Have yet to have a bad meal here. Highly recommend the burritos, tacos, breakfast burritos, and quesadillas. My only complaint is that it’s too close to my workplace so I eat here way too often.

Food truck tracks were so damn good!!! We tried asada, pastor, chicharon, carnitas and chicken. All great

Go to Historic Olvera Street just for the taquito's with avocado sauce at Juanita's. The Flores family is the original family who started this restaurant in 1944. This is a hidden gem near downtown Los Angeles that you do not want to miss.

I’ve been going to juanitas since I was a child back in the 70’s, and have been amazed about how many people just have not realized that their food, but more importantly, their avocado sauce is the best. Most people only make it as far as the corner place at the beginning of the street and don’t even attempt to walk three more stalls down to Juanitas. Their sauce is far more better and the most flavorful sauce on the street ….no other place is even a close second. So take the time to walk just a few more steps to experience the food and AVOCADO SAUCE at juanitas.

Juanita's Cafe is located in the lovely Olvera Street walk area in Downtown LA. You can get take out right now. I don't think they allow use of the small seating area because of Covid. It is located outdoors which is something I like when grabbing my food to go. They have great rice and beans and tacos. Their burritos are not the best in the area, but their tacos are quite good. The service is super friendly and pretty fast. They are not a large storefront and could really use the business, so go there.

Best tacos in town. Hand made tortillas are the best
