I grew up to having delicious cakes from KG bakery for my birthday for as long as I could remember. Sponge cake with a flavored whip icing, filled with your choice of fresh fruit. Yum! Seasonally, they bake fresh banh tet and banh chung for Lunar New Year, must preorder about 2-3 weeks in advance. My mom will only eat banh chung from here. The glutinous rice is cooked perfectly. Lots of filling and the flavoring is on point. I no longer live in the area, but will drive out from the IE just for these. The bakery is a bit hidden as it's pushed back from the street front and can be easily missed. They share a space with a law office. They have their own private parking lot in front of their shop, however, there's only enough space for about 4 cars. The family that owns the bakery are nice. I had no issues with my pre order, and pick up. I will definitely continue to make that trek out from the IE.

Have had a few custome cakes done here in the past, but it had been a while! Went in on a Wednesday for a Sunday cake & was happy that they were able to take my request. I went in with a visual of what I wanted just tweaked it a like. I was amazed how perfectly they matched it! The cakes are soft & not too sweet! Service is quick & they are super friendly! Pricing is just right, with these cakes being popular now I thought it would run me high.

We've been comparing strawberry cakes between downtown to San Gabriel Valley and so far, Kien Giang Bakery is by far our favorite! It's perfectly light, fluffy, moist, and balanced with the best strawberry to cream ratio. We recently ordered a 1/3 sheet strawberry cake for an event and it was DELICIOUS! It was also way bigger (taller) than we had expected! Their cake server also works incredibly well. We'd been eating leftover strawberry cake every day for the past week and yet, when we were asked to bring a dessert for a Christmas event a week later, our first thought was to go back to KG Bakery and get another cake! They were so kind with our last minute request on Christmas Eve and set aside a cake for us. When someone else picked up the strawberry pineapple cake by accident, they were very helpful about it and let us buy the strawberry banana cake they had instead. Even though this cake wasn't designed to be a Christmas cake, they totally made magic happen! The new strawberry banana cake we ended up buying was adorable! This place also has delicious banh mi and Vietnamese coffee! We used to live around the corner and stop by often for their lunch combo and get the vegetarian banh mi when we were pescatarian --perfect for taking to the Hollywood Bowl or other picnic events! The pork banh mi we recently tried was also yummy! The coffee is sooooooo good. The mooncakes are always awesome too! We wish we still lived closer!

The quality was bad. I bought grilled meat sandwiches but it came out with a few pieces of ham and cucumbers and pickles. I asked for more pork. They ask for 1 more usd i pay them 5 USD. When I received it back, there was no pork. I returned it. That bread costs 13 USD.. crazy . Coffee has no taste, just like water . Never buy sandwiches, coffee here no more

This bakery baked all of my childhood birthday cakes! I try to visit as often as possible for their bánh mì, pastry, and moon cake!

I'm really blown away by their cakes, especially the effort put into designing it for my daughter's birthday. They used real flowers to decorate it, and many guests couldn't help but comment on how it looked too good to cut, almost like a fancy wedding cake. And guess what? It tasted amazing too! I'd definitely recommend them and would order from them again for sure.

I'm extremely impressed with their cakes! Ordered a half sheet which is 11.5x16 which was $80 (extra if you order all strawberries or fresh fruits or if you ask for extra decorations other than borders or balloons). Cake writing is included. The half sheet should have fed 50-60, however I had 95 people at my birthday party and I still had so much cake left over that I had to cut huge portions (almost mini cake sizes themselves) to give away for guests to take home. Granted some guests did not want cake. The other size up would be the 3/4 sheet which is 16x16 which is $ 120, and should feed 60-75- I can't even imagine how much cake I'd have to waste if I ordered this size for my party. The half sheet is already very heavy and gorgeous looking. The reason why I'm impressed is because the cake is very light, fluffy, not too sweet, with the perfect blend of frosting, fruit and filling. Some cakes are not worth the calories but these cake are light and you won't feel as guilty with the intake. I opted for no decorations, instead I bought cake toppings online to deck it out and it turned out absolutely amazing and appropriate for the theme of the party. I spoke to Debbie on the phone, she was very helpful, informative, patient and took her time to answer all my questions. FYI pay cash, if you pay credit card, there is an extra fee (I believe 4%). They also sell pastries, coffee, and viet sandwiches! They make the cake fresh the day of, which is better because it does not keep very well. I kept a tiny slice to take home and the day after it already tasted a bit stale and hard. So try to order as close to the party date as possible so it can be freshly enjoyed! Picking up the day prior is fine to keep in fridge for 12 hours.

It’s a wonderful place with 5-star coffee ($4) plus peaceful outdoor seating with water feature where small birds come to drink, spirit house and wind chime.
