I travel a lot and eat every where, it was my 1st time here and wasn’t sure what to order. I brought my wife and in-laws who are not fans of sushi. So I ordered several dishes, and was amazed by the delicacy, flavors and presentation of the dishes. My wife and her parents enjoyed everything and could not stop talking about how delicious the food was. This location is a gem, and provides one of the best sushi bar and grill atmosphere in the Los Angeles area. ??????

I loved it! The food was hot and fresh. The service was excellent! My server suggested a great menu choice since it was my 1st time there. Music was good! I'm definitely going back. I went on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't crowded. However, customers began to trickle in after a few minutes of me arriving.
Parking: I parked in front of the restaurant. There's also a huge parking lot in the back.

The Monk Fish Liver is my absolute favorite Sushi Bar item. Delicious and the presentation lovely.
Oyster Shooter - fabulous and the presentation exquisite
Fried Calamari was tasty but no tentacles - a little bummed.
I will go back again and again.

Had an amazing dinner with my husband at Kanpai. Menu options are phenomenal and dishes we picked including appetizers were outstanding. I'd definitely go back there if am in LA again.

My friend and I both got ramen. The chashu was all fat, no meat whatsoever.
Crispy sushi rice was good. Rice was a little over-fried.
Uni quality wasn't spectacular.
Spicy Japan Scallop was lacking heat, but scallops were good.

The Vietnamese clerk is kind.
Grabbed some lunch here before going to a music festival. The location was so convenient to our airbnb, and we didn't want to drive too far.
We were able to snag parking right in front, which was nice. Upon entering, it had a bit of a fishy smell, but it is a sushi place. We were seated immediately, and for lunch, I ordered a sushi lunch combo with a mini eel bowl. My combo came with soup & and salad, which is always appreciated. It had 6 pieces of california roll and 6 pieces of nigiri: salmon, tuna, yellowtail, cooked shrimp, eel, and some other fish I didn't recognize. My friends ordered a tuna bowl set that had green onions and rice and combo tempura.
Everything was good. The tempura was surprisingly the best thing. The value is hard to decipher. I thought it was a touch too pricy for what we were getting because it seemed like basic Japanese fare. There were things on the menu that were fairly extravagant, like A5. They have certifications around the restaurant to prove so, but I just thought it was a bit overwhelming to peruse through. Still we left satisfied.

WOW! I don't have to drive into LA or Manhattan Beach for great sushi, it's right here! Very delicious, fresh, and beautiful presentation. I was blown away. So happy to finally "discover" Kanpai Japanese Sushi Bar & Grill!

Not much to look at but their sushi is melt in your mouth magical. Great menu and a decent wine selection as well as Japanese spirits. A great find near LAX.

An average local place that was a perfect solution in the area. Food was good and fresh. Service was slow. They only had 2 waitresses who were over worked and I felt bad for them. They did their best.
