This is a great place for sushi lovers. All ingredients are fresh and tasty. This time we were family traveling in town and my daughters simply loved it. A great service from the hostess to all the waiters. The decoration is amazing and the men's washrooms fun. Go and check them. Great spot in Hollywood!

Sushi was expensive and decent, but not revelatory Mochi donuts were amazing Appetizers were better than the main sushi offerings They had a live DJ who played a set that could have been a playlist on Spotify- nothing really unique Drinks were great Service was good- he checked in and gave us good space to chat!

The service started off great! From the waiter being knowledgeable on wine and recommended a perfect appetizer in the yellowtail. Food was fresh and tasty and we finished with tasty donut holes as a desert.

Not the first time eating at Katsuya Hollywood but I'm not sure if we'll go back. Service was good, although they forgot about 2 items during the meal so they weren't fantastic. The food was really hit or miss. Maybe only half our dishes were good.

Took my MOM and family for first time, so I knew what the experience & expectation should've been Celebrating my mom's birthday, so the expectations were going be set at that higher standard. Hence why I booked ahead. Maybe they were just a little understaffed, but we found ourselves waiting a lot of the time, none of us actually ate together or got our drinks together, all came at separate times. Overall, in the end the food was great can't complain. The drinks were amazing. But Me having booked my dinner several days prior I wish we got better attended to. They seemed super fallen behind. So no, you don't always get what you pay for, do better next time.

Without question a first class dining experience! We arrived early, after our show, and they accommodated us right away. We were celebrating my daughter's bday and the hosts and servers were quick to recognize that! It was a very chic/modern space, and we were whisked behind huge curtains..(soooooo Hollywood, Lol!) into a lovely booth. Our server was on point, recognizing our need for space but still making sure we were enjoying our time. We ordered a ton of food, lol, I guess we were hungry, but mostly just excited by the menu. Lychee Martinis hit the spot as our cocktail. Grey goose vodka never disappoints. For apps, we started with the crispy rock shrimp, then moved on to the wagyu gyoza, and multiple pieces of sashimi. I also tried the fried rice which came out sizzling in a giant stone bowl! Incredible flavor! Ate the leftovers for breakfast! The energy is bright and fun, even though the restaurant is a dimly lit, modern aesthetic. So grateful my daughter was spoiled at Katsuya on her birthday! I'll let her treat next time

Avoid katsuya at all costs. this restaurant puts their staff (particularly young female workers) through what is a demeaning and dangerous work environment. My younger sister was employed here for 4 months, during which she was verbally assaulted, physically threatened, and made to feel small. She was harassed by an older male member of staff, and when she continuously reported the behavior nothing was done. This man still works at Katsuya and poses a threat to the girls he works with everyday. It’s truly disgusting. Do not support this business.

I won’t recommend this place if you like to eat tasty food…. I ordered 3 tips of sushi and all off them were the same taste. This place is a big NO

Another lovely dinner! We walked over in the rain and were greeted warmly, seated promptly and the food and drinks were sooooo good. Luis is such a fantastic waiter! Katsuya is now our go-to place :)

A TALE OF TWO SUSHIs... (Caveat: My Katsuya experience has been limited to several meals over the past year at the sushi bar only.) The sushi is EXCELLENT! Be prepared to PAY $$$, but it's worthy. The sushi bar chefs are skilled, charming, and attentive. If that was the extent of it, Katsuya would 5-star. Unfortunately... The other service is severely lacking (almost as if severely under-staffed). Aside from the sushi chefs, the other servers are inattentive, hard to find, and generally preoccupied (albeit friendly when you finally make that unicorn sighting). Hard to rationalize that the sushi is SO GOOD and service is so barely mediocre. Maybe table service is better??? I wouldn't know, nor would I prefer to miss out on the sushi bar fun. My concern is this sushi expertise will be soon lost. Katsuya has a big (empty) dining room. If my repeated service experience is representative, I expect that Katsuya will be another lost, bygone Hollywood restaurant relic. (Too bad... because the sushi is AWESOME!)

We went to Katsuya for the first time. It was a Friday night at 5:00, but we were in and out of traffic. We called and the restaurant was very accommodating and they moved us to 5:45. I was shocked it wasn't packed but extremely pleased. I was surprised to see a bar up front and center and no one there ordering a drink. There were curtains to the left and the right of me and I felt a bit confused about being in an actual restaurant. It was an enigma at first. Taken aback for a few seconds I snapped out of it when someone greeted me at the host desk. I was immediately taken to my table. One of the curtains was pulled back and an announcement was made by the hostess who seated me, in Japanese, and a response from wait staff, more bartenders, and cooks joyously gave a Japanese response back. I felt as though I had arrived and I was excited to see what was next. What was next was a nice book of cocktail, wine, and beer selections to choose from. I ordered an amazing light and tasty lychee martini and I couldn't wait to pick from the menu. Honestly I barely made it out of the appetizer section. I found so many things I liked that I could have made a complete meal just out of the appetizers. By the time I reached the main menu there really wasn't much more I wanted. I ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts, vegetable tempura, and the Tomahawk short rib. My son ordered the Miso glazed black cod, the rock shrimp tempura, chutoro and the hotate. I didn't try his sushi but the cod hands down was the best item out of everything. When I took a bite of that I was immediately transported to another world of pure flavorful peace. The fish melted in my mouth and I could taste the butter and a sweet tease of the glaze. There really was a harmony of flavors carrying on in my mouth. Everything was a pure delight to taste and eat. The short rib was absolutely tender. I would have liked a little more sauce on it because there really wasn't any. There was a hint of flavor which was delicious and that's why I wish that flavor came in a sauce with extra on the side. I really enjoyed the Brussel sprouts. They had the perfect crispness/crunch and the sauce also was perfect. Next time I go back and there will be a next time; I'm ordering the cod and Brussel sprouts and my delightful lychee martini. Satisfaction guaranteed! Also, our waitress Joxuan(? On the spelling) was wonderful. She was attentive and helpful with the menu. She put my mind at ease and it was a pleasure to have her wait on us.

Love everything about this location. Always nice to see many of the same servers when going for a meal. Professional but also with kindness. Always visit here when going to the theater.

Service and food was excellent, I will definitely be coming back here again. My only minor complaint is that it's so dark inside it was hard to see the menu to read it. I had to use the ? flashlight on my phone. But that wouldn't stop me from returning. Sushi was outstanding!

It still is too dark, unable to read menu. Either make the menu larger print or color of letters better contrast to background. Still would rather have more light in dining area and hallway to bathrooms.

I visited this restaurant with 6 year old twins and was anxious as to how they would be received but we were welcomed with much enthusiasm! The staff were attentive, DJ was banging, food was good - spicy tuna crispy rice was our fav. My cocktail was a bit of a let down, it tasted artificial - harajuku girl I think it was called. Would recommend.
